that was utterly brilliant. Certain songs - amazinfversion of it.
knuckles !
Awesome people - beers, dancing, drinking, tears, confetti, we crushed those brews, the mother lode of THS posters at the merch stall (I got a boys and girls poster which is a delight).
And we'll do it all again tonight.

In - Keith and I are coming in from England for this one via W'burg the night before.
There will clearly have to be some careful hangover management from W'burg, but this will be as good a pair of gigs as any of us could wish for - cannot wait.
Unsure if I'll remember to pack confetti but will happily spring cash and/or beers (actually beers is of course a given) for those who do remember it.
We are staying at the Crowne Plaza in H'burg so I understand we'll need to take a cab to whichever bar you fine folks suggest - we will however, probably be going promptly to the venue for doors (if not a bit before as I'm told this is not a big venue).
Edit - I've already put some packets of confetti in my case. Offer stands re beers though.

As Wealdstone said, he and I are flying in from London and Leeds respectively for both W'burg and Harrisburg. Eric, I sent you a PM earlier this evening.
I'm pretty sure I recall seeing a post which suggested JWD is coming?

The London venue looks lovely too: - capacity 350 (will sell out rather quickly I fear) www.bushhallmusic.co.uk/The small (capacity around 350) but beautifully formed Bush Hall has a fantastic chequered history, having been one of three venues built by publisher WC Humdall around 1904 as gifts for his three daughters, surviving not only various incarnations as a music/dance hall in the roaring '20s, soup kitchen, bingo hall, music rehearsal space and snooker club, but also bombardment during The Blitz. The exterior is unprepossessing, but inside the restored Edwardian plaster work impresses, as do the two-tier Austrian lead crystal chandeliers. The music programme covers folk, blues, country, Americana and alt.rock artists, both local and overseas.

It seems churlish to say that records and tapes was my favourite of the new songs that I heard (admittedly they were still a work In progress) at those gigs more than year ago.
However the upside is that there must some epic songs if R&T did not make the final cut.

Hey Tad,
Please can I add my thanks to those above.
My quick question - what month(s)this year are you likely to be back in the UK? I saw another thread suggesting early May, but an indication would both help build excitement and allow some management of expectations.
Cannot wait for Williamsburg and Harrisburg in the interim though.
Very best
Howard

JWD - my flights will be booked this w/e but i do hope potential inclementAtlantic february weather will not stop us having at least one beer (my year in cayman taught me that hurricane season last longer than one may think, but I type from dark inclement Leeds)
***it won't

I'm travelling from the UK to both the Williamsburg and the Harrisburg gigs. I won't be alone.
Pittsburgh looks too much of a stretch though - curses to work

I know that I've gone back a couple or more times to pledge again, not least because I completely trust my favourite band to do the right thing with all of this.
After all, when I've invested time money and effort in the band previously it has always been repaid several times over by the band themselves and the community of people around them. I've no reason whatsoever to think that is ever likely to change.
I could just do with knowing when to book flights for the gigs in February...

I agree with everything Rawkguitars has said - save that his massive heart will likely get him through at least one round of security checks en route to Presidency.
I've moved the rest of my comments to the other thread since I don't like contributing to something titled "moneygrab".

I'll hook up with Keith and matt (and I hope Lauren and possibly Hannah), but not yet made any detailed plans for Coventry. The stadium is a typical new football stadium - out of town.
Matt - have sent you a pm

Brendan - that is truly an epic post and brings back some great memories. The awesome redemptive power of rock and roll indeed.
Whilst I'm bombed with work, I loved taking some time to read it all through, I remember reading about loads of those shows and watching your various video blogs.
Obviously, the Halloween Mexican thing was the US tour when Motorben was merch' guy. Clearly, if Ben was able to write a post in a similar vein to your own, that would make fascinating reading (though probably not for a family audience).
In fact, some of the Ben stories might make a great book - I'd hope it was a rom/com with a happy ending, but it could easily be something by Irvine Welsh.
Wealdstone - Leeds Irish Centre was one of my faves. It was also another occasion when Mojo's credit card machine treated me very kindly.
I also think back to Leeds Festival 2007 when Bobby locked me out of y own house. I now have a Bobby Drake key hidden outside in case of future visits by said legend.

I think Tad does a pretty good job multi-tasking as having a family can take a lot of time, but as was said, fixing web issues ranks nowhere beside fixing new tunes.

Rich,
Your photos are amazing - how you managed to take so many great ones given that the place was so awash with alcohol is beyond me.
I have just about managed to recover from one of the biggest hangovers of my entire life, but only after going to bed at 6pm last night and sleeping through until 7am.
You re of course quite right in all that you say about unforgettable memories and wonderful people. When back in the UK tomorrow, I will get round to emailing everyone individually but for the moment a sincere and humble thanks to you all will have to suffice.

The pre-show is obviously a done deal, but what about post show drinking?
Rich' - did your researches extend that far?
Any thoughts?

I love records and tapes - for me, Finn on ace lyrical form. The whole sound is fab.
Don't know how I forgot to post this bit, as they began, "How a resurrection really feels" Finn gave a heartfelt cry of "Jersey Mike".
A very special band.

Hey iterate,
I read your poignant email and think your honesty is wonderful, not least as I know a similar story about someone in the UK for whom Craig took time to reply to her letter and it got her through a very tough time.
I'm quite sure Craig will learn about your story - there's easily a dozen people on these boards who might pass on the message.
As the man said, stay positive.

I can't believe it has been since Shepherd's Bush in february 2001 that I've seen them - suffice to say they have not lost any of their charisma and general ability to provide a great night. Band and crew were in fine spirits.
Venue best described as like an out of town arts centre which was clearly adjacent to a former steel works -a cool place and a crowd featuring lots of people who had travelled some distance and knew their stuff.
Craig had the best Bethlehem joke - "So, Christmas city - where it all began. You guys are really beginning to gt some traction with the whole Christmas idea...".
The songs are clearly evolving - there was a sweet bit of Craig singing acapella at the end of records and tapes, something like, "Every single story has many different versions..."

Jessica - sent you a pm.
However, if either you or anyone else from the boards can offer some tips for Bethlehem about food and bars pre-show that would be much appreciated (and wholly typical of the kind people here).
All i know is that its' a college town and it may be a bit quiet at this time of year since the students will be home for Christmas.

I bought tickets for Coventry.
Then I saw this thread and am even more delighted to think I might get to see some of you guys too. May have to work out some careful plans to factor in due course about meet ups.

Reliable sources will no doubt be posting in due course having duly checked out - at least one excellent - appropriate bar for pre-show.
