Kennedy - what everyone else said. Incredibly poignant and wholly typical of the astonishing people from the boards.
Its a long time since i wore a US shirt to a THS gig ( not least cos I keep giving them away when tired and emotional), but I'll certainly wear one with pride to philly, bethlehem and NYE.

I'm with those, who have said, "I never met Jersey Mike but he changed my life with the stuff he did" on these boards.
To me, he was a legend. He was so kind and generous as reflected by some of the PMs I had with him - especially when I had no idea how to do a batch of US t-shirts.
I can remember reading his debate with Tad on the pink boards and admiring both of them for the passion, tenacity and knowledge with which they argued their positions.
I was really looking forward to meeting him at the late December gigs. It is just so sad - and tragic that he had a young family.
I'd be really grateful for any kind of Pm which can direct me as appropriate towards contributing.

I really enjoyed this gig - not least the incredible architecture in the venue. The format was basically the three of them on stage throughout, in front of the pulpit with acoustic guitars.
Probably about 500 people there - all sat in the church pews.
Craig as ever, on very good form - still very generous and kind. Patterson seemed to do a lot of the talking between songs, but I liked his stuff.
Will post a setlist and some photos when my hangover subsides.
Met some sweet people post gig.
No THS material, and no new merch' (largely the same as for the Clear Heart tour though I did not see any of the bandanas). There was another batch of the Craig Finn signature brew beer, which I liked.

sounds like fab news about this venue - I was expecting Bethlehem to be the bomb.
All things considered, I'm very glad I waited until now for a trip to see THS on their home turf.

Camie - I know my gf and I are 2 of Phils' fan's 4 (and I think his wife a third), Wealdstone is potentially the 4th.
Very much looking forward to meeting you - and reliable sources would suggest - a number of other legends from the boards.
I'd be most grateful a copy of the results from hotel research via PM - or Phils fan can give you my email.
I'm anticipating that confetti and a post party are nailed on.
Lest we forget, NYE is Galen's birthday...

As flights, tickets etc are all booked I thought I'd start a thread.
This is if only to provide an outlet for all the rubbish jokes about being in Bethlehem at nearly Christmas (and apologies to people who live there since they must have heard every variation) but:
- we won't need satnav as we can follow the star - the hotels will be full but we can sleep in a stable - if only we had a wise man - various riffs about Christmas presents, shephrds, etc.
Hoping for a small venue to see the boys bring the usual A game and some new songs.

Hugely, hugely in.
Flights, hotel and car booked for trip to the States with my girlfriend Lisa. It looks like Wealdstone of this parish is also on board as well, so with many, many thanks to the kindness of Phils' fan, I cannot wait for dec 27 and a flight to philly.
I'm assuming Lucero and THS will do joint headlining like with DBT on the Rock and Roll means well tour and alternate, between the 2 nights?
I wonder if we might get another rendition of constructive "christmas", last seen in london a few years ago?
Appreciate that the recent weather has given people a lot to think of - and hope all ok - but suggestions re hotels for NYE gratefully received, plus a venue to meet?

Ben - that is very kind.
I am going to be in for this - still working on details of the trip as have got work commitments to fit in with it, but basically very excited to meet a number of the rather ace people from these boards. and of course to see the world's greatest rock n' roll band

that is one sweet little video and patterson is v eloquent.
When HIW came out on RSD 2 years ago, I was queing at 7am (shop opened at 9.30) in leeds and was third in queue (the shop told me the day before they had 3 of the clear vinyls). Shop opened and I had intended to buy 2 copies, one for and another for a dear friend who loves the band.
Whilst waiting, I spoke to a yong girl of about 15 who told me she had got up at 4 am and hitch hiked from scarbrough (about a 3 hour journey) to Leeds to get a clear vinyl HiW.
However, when the shop opened, the guy in front of me bought one. I then found myself in a dilemma as if I bought the last 2 copies the girl's journey would have been in vain. What would you have done ?
I bought only 1 copy and (memory fialsds me as I bought loads of stuff i had not intended), but I think I paid for the girl's copy. I subsequently gave mine to my mate.
But I don't even have a turntable anymore (must address that situation) so I hope all win.
In my humble opinion, people who scam/flog RSD merch'should perhaps think about the ethos of it all. Not preaching or anything.

Dear unified scene,
a couple of days of ace gigs serves only to remind how many cool, interesting and generally kind, fun people love this music. And commit to being there.
Summary - (as anticipated) performances rather fantastic.
brighton was adjacent to the sea - such that distance from craig's mic' on stage to the english channel (la manche) was peut etre 50 metres.
London maybe 400 people in the room. gig sold out in one of London's nouveau riche areas (or where new, trendy people go to drink Craig Finn Beer. 800 bottles sold tonight .
I bought a beer for Sam the brewer who said that he is bringing out beer for other muso's. Personally, a Galen Polivka ministry of fun Ale would work well.
March in England is ordinarily cool from a weather perspective. However, Craig and band brought heat . "Dennis and Billy" an astonishing song.
No new material but stuff played with true craftmanship.
finn gave us the itinerary/ list of gigs played by he and some guns at start of set - a splendid thing.
Thanks to them and you.

Manchester last night was epic. Given my hangover this morning, I am glad I was not in Glasgow as I understand that was a rather lively evening.
The only problem with the set was that it did not go on for a lot longer - everything you'd expect from off the album.
As noted above, Some Guns are wonderful people - and as ever Craig remains a true gentleman, generous with time and insight.
I picked up the limited white label single, a cool cf t shirt but forgot a bandana.
I can't wait for Brighton and London.

Dear Mixee,
Humble apologies as I've only been able to post this to you today.
As it is not being delivered by Santa, but has to cross the Atlantic, it may take a few days. I appreicate your patience.
Merry Christmas.
Best

I was at the Leeds gig last night - again, "Yeah Sapphire" was played with Frank turner on acoustic and Franz on the accordion. It was very very good.
Franz is playing accordion on a track from Frank's new album - sounds like there are asome incredible songs on said new album.
Off to see Franz again in Leeds tonight, playing at the packhorse - he is so charismatic and a true entertainer. Not to be missed.

Dear UK scenesters,
How many of you are heading to various Franz gigs in January? The venue in Leeds is tiny and should be awesome. Esp if Rock rinse repeat were to be played.

Dear Mr Danger,
I got my clear vinyl version of "luck and Courage today - hurrah.
However, there's no details inside - i was expecting a slip of paper inside the sleeve - to tell me how to get the digital download. I would not mind if "Rock rinse repeat " were not the greatest song.
Please can you help me out here -you may prefer to send a PM.
Many thanks.

Dear Mr Danger,
Is there any word on the Franz dates in the UK early next year? Some of us wish to plan our schedules and are aware that we may be in Southampton, London and/ or Ireland watching THS during February.
Also I will have to download form emusic as I can't see a UK release date specified - can you help at all ? (I assume not as Franz has UK people?)
The album is amazing - I can't believe Rock, rinse repeat is a mere bonus track as for me it is the stand-out.
Thank you in advance for your courteous efficiency.
Cheers.
Howard

Dear Unified Scene,
I have managed to accidentally delete (don't ask) the recording which I had of the above gig. I'm hoping that someone - the Who can point me in the right direction (I've had a look on the blog) but can't see it there. I can't remember who gave me the recording.
However, it is memorable for, amongst other things one of my favourite Finn intros:-
"Ben Godfrey - YOU...can make HIM... like YOU..."
As I'm clearly an idiot, step by step instructions on how to download this would be aces. Or pm me so I can give you my address if you could very knidly burn it onto a disk for me. The latter would be my preference.
You might know that you will be rewarded with gallons of beer and happiness in e.g. Southampton on Feb 4th or Manchester (a sprung dance-floor at the Ritz where it will go off).
Cheers all.

if you like Sweet Payne then I suggest you need to get over to a London gig - there's a good friend of the band who requests it regularly. Even with my bad memory blighted by lots of alcohol I know I've seen it at least twice in London.
(though my fave' is still "Constructive Christmas" in Dec 08 at, i think, Koko)
By the way, I've only ever seen Chillout Tent played once in over 20 shows
