I know Fender is playing Crash records in Leeds before a gig at the brudenell in a couple of weeks time.
Say 500 people tops in an evening max. The Geordie Springsteen.

I completely agree that the sound and picture quality were tremendous.
As ever, the band brought their A game - seeing the images of everyone with signs and beers and children was very, very uplifting.
We all know there is nothing like being there, but having woken up at 1.30am with a strong cup of tea to take me through - I cracked open a beer after about 5 songs.
I never looked back - the show seemed to race past - even if this time i was not spending a large part of the evening at the bar.
Highlight was probably Lanyards, but entitlement crew, weekenders, hurricane J and first night were also very special.
I eventually went back to bed at 4am - tired but very, very happy.
Plus not very long at all until soundcheck, then another brilliant show. I will clearly need a power nap between the two.
At 3.30am I was wondering if i should not go back to bed, but very glad i chose the prudent option.

I've sent a message to the band's manager about this - I know he will be on it shortly.
As the man said Stay Positive.

I'd be careful about choosing Manhattan if you are planning on travel in to Brooklyn for the shows using the L train . They are shutting the station at Bedford Avenue for 15 months: - MTA Confirms L Train Shutdown to Begin on April 27. NEW YORK - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the L train shutdown will officially begin on April 27, 2019. Once it begins, service between Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan will be suspended for 15 months.3 For cheap and cheerful accommodation (if small rooms), but great location - try www.thepodhotel.com/pod-brooklyn

Also, Christian Rock.
Ugh, what a horrible, preachy label.

I love the album - the PItchfork review is quite right: - pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/craig-finn-i-need-a-new-war/ The Plattsburgh EP is probably my favourite version of the songs, as the lyrics stand out even more. Plus the Lyrics book - with photos from Dan - is a thing of beauty in its' own right. I'd love to think there might be a Hold Steady lyrics book in similar vein one day. The Boys and Girls comic was all very well, but a bound lyrics book would be very special.

I like the idea of Tapping the Admiral too - could be a Xmas parlour game of course.
Though I note that it closes at midnight on a Friday and Saturday.
Certainly up for it pre-show.

The Grain Belt Bridge over the mississsippi is well worth your time - especially if you go to some of the ace bars/restaurants on the far side of the river i.e. away from the vikings ground.
make sure you walk across the Stone Bridge whilst in that area.

I'm sure that many of us who can't be there would love it if you can tape any of the shows.
The only small issue might be that the new songs - where the band have not yet really maximised the value - could be slightly sensitive.
I'd respectfully suggest hooking up with brendan or camie via these boards/twitter and taking the temperature that way.
I'm sure your request will be considered sympathetically.

Stringer - that is a lovely article.
So sad about Scott - seeing him in London to open for THS was a privilege. A pint glass half full of whisky, baseball cap and playing some wonderful FR songs acoustically - including a few by request.
Frightened rabbit - special band. Scott - a very special talent. love their song, "Lick of paint" at present, but can't seem to stop playing FR.
We are going to Halifax for father john misty next weekend, where FR were due to play - they will be terribly missed, but there will be a tribute to Scott.

That is some excellent work.
I always think that Craig chooses his words very carefully (and well), both on and off-stage.
I wish there was a transcript of some of the things he said over the weekend about how much he loves the truth.

just thought it might be helpful to provide a heads up for this for any people travelling.
The venue is a couple of miles form the ground, but clearly the pubs around kings Cross/Islington will be busier than a non-football Sunday.
Same applies to public transport.
Game should be finished by 3.30pm, but the area will remain busy for a couple of hours post match.
Who wants to make the first joke about Arsenal fans being poor company if they lose again?

Many thanks - I had not seen that about the other perfomers.
I prefer Eureka to Esther.
I wonder what the odds are of THS playing a gig in Eureka one day? Along the lines of previous trip to Ybor city.

I liked the random Brooklyn memories thread. Aside from the great tunes, amazing lyrics, wonderful community and the amazing talents of band, crew and management, I was thinking about some of the amazing experiences, which THS have provided. I will probably add to this list over the ext few days, but here a few thoughts in no particular order: 1 Falmouth several years ago, THS played "Girls go for status" and CF's intro to the next song was "This song is basically about the same thing as the last one' - the next tune being You Can Make Him Like you. 2 Manchester - for so many reasons, Big Hands, etc. but I remember loving it when i heard another Cf intro on a bootleg - "Ben Godfrey - YOU can make HIM like you". Ben told me that did not assist his dating prowess for a while. It also caused him to snort coffee over his key board when he heard the same bootleg. 3 The day that THS played at my house. Anyone who was there can confirm it was totally one for the ages. The band and crew playing football (soccer) with my then 7 year old Finn in front of my garage will live long in the memory. Of course the videos from that day are here www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxd9DfgIduY4 Bethlehem PA in late Dec 2014 (I think) - CF's first words on stage, "Well we finally made it. The place where it all began. You guys are really beginning to get some traction with the whole Christmas concept..." 5 ABC Brewery, Harrisburg- the 10th anniversary from where there are so many great memories. playing "last confetti". but the band opening with Killer Parties was spectacular. 6 the band having released new songs just now in advance of London - will pick this list up later, but going to download and listen... 7 Giving CF a copy of Jeffrey Bernard is unwell and over a year later him remembering, by saying in another song intro, 'My friend Howard gave me a book when we were last in leeds. that book was about a boy and a girl and a horse..." 8 Putting my card behind the bar on the first occasion I ever took the band and crew to Mojo. Unbeknownst to all of us the manager - Andy - was a massive THS fan. Andy's staff rang him at 1am to get him out of bed and back into the bar to meet the band. We left around 3.30am. Despite us having had loads to drink - e..g i know at least full 2 full bottles of jagermeister were consumed, my card was charged with only the first round - £52 as andy said he was so delighted to have the band there. 9 the K&L Foundation. my favourite charity as Jersey Mike's kids were about the same age as mine when he died. The van Jura family remain a total class act and they are only some of the amazing friend made via the good offices of the band. 10 Brooklyn in December. Iced margarita. By the pint. 11 York Fibbers, January 2007. As someone said on the boards at the time - seeing THS play in a room that small was like being given free money. (also applies to the Brickhouse in Carlisle, the day before they played leeds festival in 2007). 12 bobby Drake locking me out of my own house after Leeds Festival in 2007. Since then, I keep a key hidden outside the house, which is known to all as the Bobby Drake key. 13 CF coming over when Lisa and I were at Brighton in the front - singing, with a big grin on his face, "There's always other boys, always other boyfriends...' and Lisa saying, "So true". I know Brendan also received a similar thing. 14 Thank you for giving me the Minnesota vikings. I saw an actual miracle in January, which will never become old - www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKgUiBOpsZ4. Also www.youtube.com/watch?v=Viet7dTEkBA

So excited. Not seen them since Oct 2014 at the Riverside in Newcastle. Journeying from 'Oop north' so not sure about how much time I'm going to have to get a swift half in pre gig, but I'll give it my best shot ! That was my last time too. I remember shouting to my mate (who I dragged along) "F$%^ me, Oaks!!" Was that not their last UK gig? That gig in Newcastle was wonderful - it was certainly the last time I saw them over here (though of course, Craig has been back on his own). Google confirms it was 23rd October 2014. It has largely been the christmas/new year shows in NYC since then, along with gigs in chicago, denver, canada, etc.

Clearly, these are brilliantly exciting times in which we live.
Yet to fine tune plans, but will be in Camden for the sound-check on Friday onwards.
It will be awesome to see everyone - it has been a while.
