I dunno if this has been asked before. I've come to realize that I may be in the lower tier of THS fans, age-wise, which is weird for me because I got into them during college and thus everyone I know who loves them is 25 or younger, pretty much. But as I go to more shows it seems most people are older than that. On the other hand, that may have a bit to do with a surplus of 21+ shows and the exclusion of newer fans who might be younger than that. So out of pure curiosity, what do you think the average age is, or how old are you? Does "Lord, to be 33 forever" more literal than I think it is? Does the band's age carry weight? Or are most of us still hoping to be crowned the king or the queen?
For the record, I'm 24. And prior to the past few months I'd assumed I'd been about the average-aged Hold Steady fan. But now I think that number's a bit higher.

I got into The Hold Steady when I was 16, I'm 19 now.
I have no idea what the average age is, but I bet it's a few years older than me.

I got into THS when I was 18 and I am 22 right now. It was right after BAGA came out. Still my favorite album of all time.

It's a pretty big range. I'm 23 for what it's worth, just got into them last year.

i guess i was 21 when i really got into them. i don't think that was a coincidence.
i'll be 25 in a couple months. that seems to be the norm, 3-4 years ago.

I got into about when I turned 18 and I'm 20.5 now.
My sister got into them around 18 and she's 21 along with her ex.
My other sister (younger) got into them around 16 and she's 18.
My friend got into em just recently and is 20.
So our gang is all under 25, but that's not the same age as the rest of the people at the shows in LA, that's for sure.

I'll cop to being the aging hipster at the show with the touch of gray in his beard. Turned 34 in March.

Even more ageing hipster - I'm 39 (though I'm looking more like 45 - skipped the grey and gone straight balding, though there's grey in my beard too!).
I'm the same age as Craig Finn (older by about 4 months).
Got into them about 3 years ago.
As I've said on this site before, at THS shows you will see fans from 16 - 60.

I know we have a fair amount of members in their 30s, maybe some in their 40s. Any in their 50s?

I got in to THS at 18, but I'm 22 as of today! it's my birthday! anyway, who cares about age? Unless you can't get a drink at the venue (like my girlfriend at the last show). That part kinda sucked. Nice to have a sober ride home though!

Guess I am the grey beard (literally and figuratively) at 53. Got into the band in 2006, when I was a youngster of 50.
