I liked the random Brooklyn memories thread.
Aside from the great tunes, amazing lyrics, wonderful community and the amazing talents of band, crew and management, I was thinking about some of the amazing experiences, which THS have provided.
I will probably add to this list over the ext few days, but here a few thoughts in no particular order:
Falmouth several years ago, THS played "Girls go for status" and CF's intro to the next song was "This song is basically about the same thing as the last one' - the next tune being You Can Make Him Like you.
Manchester - for so many reasons, Big Hands, etc. but I remember loving it when i heard another Cf intro on a bootleg - "Ben Godfrey - YOU can make HIM like you". Ben told me that did not assist his dating prowess for a while. It also caused him to snort coffee over his key board when he heard the same bootleg.
The day that THS played at my house. Anyone who was there can confirm it was totally one for the ages. The band and crew playing football (soccer) with my then 7 year old Finn in front of my garage will live long in the memory. Of course the videos from that day are here www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxd9DfgIduY
Bethlehem PA in late Dec 2014 (I think) - CF's first words on stage, "Well we finally made it. The place where it all began. You guys are really beginning to get some traction with the whole Christmas concept..."
ABC Brewery, Harrisburg- the 10th anniversary from where there are so many great memories. playing "last confetti". but the band opening with Killer Parties was spectacular.
the band having released new songs just now in advance of London - will pick this list up later, but going to download and listen...
Giving CF a copy of Jeffrey Bernard is unwell and over a year later him remembering, by saying in another song intro, 'My friend Howard gave me a book when we were last in leeds. that book was about a boy and a girl and a horse..."
Putting my card behind the bar on the first occasion I ever took the band and crew to Mojo. Unbeknownst to all of us the manager - Andy - was a massive THS fan. Andy's staff rang him at 1am to get him out of bed and back into the bar to meet the band. We left around 3.30am. Despite us having had loads to drink - e..g i know at least full 2 full bottles of jagermeister were consumed, my card was charged with only the first round - £52 as andy said he was so delighted to have the band there.
the K&L Foundation. my favourite charity as Jersey Mike's kids were about the same age as mine when he died. The van Jura family remain a total class act and they are only some of the amazing friend made via the good offices of the band.
Brooklyn in December. Iced margarita. By the pint.
York Fibbers, January 2007. As someone said on the boards at the time - seeing THS play in a room that small was like being given free money. (also applies to the Brickhouse in Carlisle, the day before they played leeds festival in 2007).
bobby Drake locking me out of my own house after Leeds Festival in 2007. Since then, I keep a key hidden outside the house, which is known to all as the Bobby Drake key.
CF coming over when Lisa and I were at Brighton in the front - singing, with a big grin on his face, "There's always other boys, always other boyfriends...' and Lisa saying, "So true". I know Brendan also received a similar thing.
Thank you for giving me the Minnesota vikings. I saw an actual miracle in January, which will never become old - www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKgUiBOpsZ4.
