It was played at the 40 Watt Club show. This is possibly my favourite Hold Steady bootleg (that I have heard) - it also has The Ballad Of The Midnight Hauler, , 212 Magarita (obv), First Night, Citrus, Barfruit Blues, Hot Fries, and the best version of Most People Are DJs that I can even imagine. Better go get that one...thanks!

(The song, not the member)
My iPod was extremely good to me this morning on the drive in. In order I got:
40 Bucks 212Margarita Atlantic City
Made me wonder what the live versions of 212Margarita sound like, since I've always only heard the acoustic version from the Virgin sessions.....could someone recommend a show for me that's on the taped show archive?
Thanks so much.

i'm sort of familiar with the bronx...is el bronx really a mariachi side project? i am confused Yes, it is....and El Bronx is opening up at the El Rey in LA...not The Bronx, according to the website...should be interesting. What could be more punk than Mariachi music, right?

Thanks to the start time, I was able to make it to Franz's LA show tonight. The setlist:
I'll Need A Volunteer Dead Sailors Jeff Penalty (with the real Jeff Penalty in the audience!) Hey Dad! Trains Confessions of an Ineffective Casanova World/Inferno vs. The End of the Evening There Will Be Violins Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo (Jimmy Durante)
Franz was funny and charming as usual. A fun set. Unfortunately, thanks to hipster Silverlake, he was fighting loud bar conversation in the next room throughout his show. Not the best venue for an acoustic show. I give him all the credit for ignoring that and putting on a great show. My only disappointment was not hearing X-Games, my favorite song off Major General. That said, this was not the venue for that song.....I couldn't help but wish he was playing at Largo (the best place for quiet, acoustic shows). Hopefully next time.
Thanks so much fn.

i don't know, but usually the venue will tell you. Yeah, I know...but not till the day of the show. So I guess I'll wait....just thought I'd give it a shot. Jack

Good venue. Rectangular room with stage at one end. High ceiling. Stage is a little low for my tastes...but good sight lines, and the floor is down a couple of steps so you can stand on the edge and be a bit higher....capacity around 700. Sorry the shows have been a bit underwhelming for you...the tour will be winding down, maybe they'll turn it on in LA! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Rey_Theatre

Welcome Jimmyswagger! You'll have to come down to LA in July and meet up with us. By the way...I LOVE Vancouver. Work there all of the time. Would love to come up there and see the boys....

ok, like a crazy person, i bought this ticket but am still thinking of Madison on 7/10 and MSP on 7/11. argh You're not crazy. I should be satisfied with a hometown date...but I'm still trying desperately to make it to NY on 6/8 & 9.

Just survived an amazing week of rock and roll. Hold Steady in Vegas, and the two Springsteen shows in LA. I'd say the first night was a bit better, but Mike Ness last night was a huge highlight. I love Social Distortion.
I went into this tour with low expectations (don't love the new record, the setlists look too much like last tour), but as usual, Bruce didn't disappoint. Two great shows. And, if all works out, I should be going to Philly for two more in a couple of weeks.
That said, the highlight of my week was THS. By a mile. My how things have changed for me....66 Springsteen shows and counting. But, I wish I could be in Coachella today.

Great show. High energy crowd right in front of Craig, which was surprising, but cool. Got a copy of the setlist...Hoodrat wasn't on it, and they skipped Steve Nix as the second encore song...but man, Killer Parties. Wow. Beautiful outdoor night. Craig mentioned a few times that his sister was there. Talked to Tad after the show, who was a bit apologetic that Craig's voice was ragged. Seems he ended lent Sunday night by having lots of fun. I didn't care. Great setlist (finally got Charlemagne!), and most importantly, was able to tell the guys after the show how much their music helped me through some really dark times last year. Here's a picture. Man, I wish I could join you guys in Sacramento. Jack

Hello everyone! I'm a big, big fan, but tonight will be my first show! I have kind of a silly question for people, heh. I'm from Minnesota, but I've lived in Vegas for quite a while. I was thinking about wearing my Minnesota Vikings jersey tonight, ya know, kind of as a sign of Minnesota pride or something (and hopefully get noticed a little, haha.) Do you guys think that would be cool, or too cheesy? In any case, I'll be there, excited for a great night! I say...wear it! See you tonight....

Off work by 5:30, in Vegas by 8 thanks to Southwest...see you all there!

For what it's worth...mine arrived today and seems to be working just fine. Sactochris, you should have gotten yours today too, being on the west coast and all.
Watching the Docu now. Makes me proud to be a longtime crazed fan.

Yeah...let's hope it's a decent sized crowd....l saw somewhere that they are playing on the patio...is that outdoors? Yep, that it is. Really nice, cool venue, but it's going to be a shock to see them play it (300 capacity) after seeing them sell out 1,200 capacity venues on the East Coast. Well, let's hope there are 300 of us there...and loud! Getting excited. Jack

Hey all! Good to hear that some of you are making it out to Vegas to come see THS. Being locals, we saw them the last time they were here and it was a damn good show. I'm sure this one will not disappoint. The venue is really small, but it definitely adds to the atmosphere. Also, not too many people seem to know who they are around here, so we're happy to know you all will be there cheering 'em on and giving them a rockin' welcome back. Yeah...let's hope it's a decent sized crowd....l saw somewhere that they are playing on the patio...is that outdoors? Jack

Nice job guys. Feel like I know you...hope to see you at a show sometime.
The sheer joy when "Midnight Hauler" starts is totally cool. I know what that feels like....
They've been really, really enjoyable.
