Just thought I'd share this one. As I was leaving my house to catch the bus from Aberdeen to Glasgow, my eight year old boy hands me a loom band bracelet and says "Can you give this Craig Finn"? So I tweeted Craig with my mission, and he favourites the tweet. Five rows back and at the end of Killer Parties I gently lob this bracelet onto the stage, and it miraculously (given my questionable sobriety) lands at Craig's feet. He looks a bit confused but picks it up and walks off stage. Within fifteen minutes he has tweeted this: /photo/1 Needless to say my son was and is still beside himself. After an hour and a half (and what an hour and half it was) Craig didn't need to do that, but he did. Another damned fine reason to be proud to be part of the Unified Scene. We are all the Hold Steady. Attachments:

Great night. Setlist bookended with Positive Jam and Killer Parties. First Night into Big Cig. Citrus opening the encore. Good crowd too!

Anyone else going? I've got some time off work so I'm taking the bus from Aberdeen and staying overnight (in the Z hotel near George Square). If any folk are up for a pre-gig beer let me know!

In one way it's a shame if ticket sales have been poor (the ABC was pretty full on the HIW tour) but selfishly the small venue the better. I'd be interested in a pre-show meet-up if anyone fancies. I'll be travelling down from Aberdeen (on my own), probably arriving mid-afternoon

As a Sunderland fan, I sincerely hope Craig will not be donning black and white at the Newcastle gig, even though I realise I'll be deep in enemy territory...

QPR? I'm guessing that's through Michael Hann at the Guardian?

I think ranking the albums have become a lot harder the past couple of years. I've went back to Stay Positive and Heaven Is Whenever, and find it hard to rank the one above the other. And now Teeth Dreams is in the mix. Right now, I think it's the least good of an absolutely amazing streak of records. But to me it's more like two separate tiers. The first three (10/10) and the last three (9/10), which are almost impossible to rank separately. 01. Separation Sunday 02. Almost Killed Me 03. Boys And Girls In America 04. Heaven Is Whenever 05. Stay Positive 06. Teeth Dreams I agree, it's all fine margins in the end.

Not long pauses, but you could add Hornets and First Night off top of my head. Plus the exquisite silence between Charlemagne and Stevie Nix.

"Half naked and three quarters wasted"
"They started kissing when the nurses took off their IVs It was kinda sexy, but it was kinda creepy Their mouths were fizzy with the cherry cola They had the privacy of bedsheets And all the other kids were mostly in comas"

With a bit of interest from venues & ticket sellers the touting problem could be easily sorted, they lack the will though. Got Paris tickets, see what this morning brings for the London ones! It should be customary to have your photo printed on your tickets, like with Glasto! Tricky one, but my tickets for Bush Hall would have gone to waste if this were the case...

I tried to get tickets for my wife and her family to see Dolly Parton in Aberdeen. Never got close to getting any, and two weeks before the concert, there are still loads left on sites such as Viagogo, at a minimum of £170 a pop. I really hope she ends up playing to swathes of empty seats as people refuse to pay such ridiculous prices.

Hello The Unified Scene:
Especially to our friends overseas. You’ve been asking when more dates for Europe and the UK will be announced and here they are……
The Hold Steady will return to the UK this autumn to play a headline nine-date tour with gigs in Portsmouth, Bristol, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Sheffield. The tour will start with a run of 4 other European cities opening in Amsterdam on October 7. We’re excited to announce Brooklyn’s So-So Glos will be supporting all shows.
Tickets for the UK tour will go on sale on Tuesday, 27 May at 9am. Eindhoven will go on sale on Sat 24th, with the rest of mainland Europe going on sale on Mon 26th.
Be on the lookout for another update with information on the shows with presale tickets.
Looking forward to October and Stay Positive!

Now that we've had some time to absorb the record, pick your favorite Teeth Dreams track. Frighten You, Spinners, The Ambassador, and Big Cig are close, but my favorite is still The Only Thing. The Only Thing is perfection. Even my wife thinks it's "not bad"
