Here's last night's setlist, courtesy of my friend Pam (who was attending her first show):
It sounds like the show was in another small room, but I don't have an approximate head count.

Pretty small venue. Highlights for me include Bangin' Camp, Hoodrat, and DJ's.

Enter "friend Pam." Not sure on a headcount. Maybe 150-200? I was up against the stage, and didn't see a whole lot going on behind me. Plus, there's an upstairs bar area away from the main room (you can't take take drinks downstairs) where a bunch of people stayed. I did get some good pics that I'll post when I get home.

pammylam - were you the woman against the stage directly in front of Craig? Also, I'd say about 200.

Nope. There was her, then two dudes to her right, then me. I was the chick with long hair and glasses directly in front of Tad. Where were you?

I was right behind the woman who was in front of Craig - my buddy and I both had MN Twins hats on. I hope you enjoyed your first show. Did you make the trip out from Minneapolis?

Just hats, or were you the guys in the Mauer jerseys?
No trip for me. I live in Utah. My trip was about 25 minutes down I-15.

Yeah just hats. I was wearing a Hold Steady "First Ave" shirt from the 4th of July Minneapolis shows and my buddy was wearing a Great Gatsby t-shirt - though we did see the guys in the Mauer jerseys. I'm from St. Paul but now live in Clearfield, UT - good to know there are other Unified Scene members in UT.

I think that woman who was right in front of Craig you're referring to might have been me. I have long hair and I was wearing a blue sweater. I didn't notice any other girls around me anyway. What a setlist, huh?
I met Craig before the show and I asked if he'd play Sweet Payne, and he complimented me on my request choice. I know he said something about playing a song for me at the beginning of the encore (my name's Joe) but I was half deaf and I couldn't really hear what he said. I think he said something along those lines though.
Also, much thanks to Dusty who got me a setlist. Shortly after that I saw Bobby and as we were talking he noticed the setlist in my hand and got everyone to sign it for me. All in all, that was a damn good show.

1. panamajack - sorry bro, never saw your face...just assumed. 2. sweet payne would have been devastatingly epic 3. I think Craig said something along the lines of "a friend of ours requested a song earlier, we cant play it tonight but this next one's for you" 4. nice job on the setlist (i got one as well) my buddy and I talked with Bobby for a bit after the 09 show at the urban lounge - nice guy. 6. anyone else from UT heading back for the dec. 29 First Ave show?

Haha, that's okay dude. I get it all the time. And yeah, Sweet Payne's my favorite song, but I'm assuming that either Steve or the new pianist didn't know how to play it. I'm not complaining, DJs was insane. I didn't know they had another show in December. I will most likely be at that one. Edit: Here's a picture of my signed setlist:

Damn, that sucks. I dunno, maybe they weren't feeling it or whatever. I don't mind. I'm completely satisfied that they even listened to my request.

By the by: "Sweet Payne" happens rarely, if ever, even before the current lineup. I think it turns up just a little less often than "Chillout Tent," but more often than "Sketchy Metal."

Yep. Pam is a board nerd. Everyone can credit campfirewood for that. Before he told me to get with it, I'd never even heard of The Hold Steady. He's quite the recruiter.
Panamajack - was there a girl talking to Dusty when you went to talk to him? If that was you, then that was me. Also, sorry about referring to you as a woman, too. You were in my peripheral, and I'd had a significant amount of gin.
Jcstark - I remember your friend in the Gatsby shirt, but I'm drawing a blank on you. Sorry.

If you click "reply," you get more options than the "quick reply" box at the bottom of the page. Look in the section marked "Add Tags." There's a button that looks like a little snapshot on the second row. Click it- the image tags will show up in your message box. Insert the URL of the image you want to post between the two image tags (you probably need to host the images over at Flickr or a similar service), and you're good to go. (And she does have a couple of rad shots for you guys, by the way.)

What was with the dude giving Craig the finger the whole time?

What was with the dude giving Craig the finger the whole time? There's one in every crowd. In Tulsa, there was a very thoughtful young gent who felt the need to make an ass of himself throughout the set, even going so far as to hurl a crushed can at the stage. I don't know what part of the brain says that's a good idea... If that's the worst we get at shows, though, then we're doing all right.

What was with the dude giving Craig the finger the whole time? I know a guy who used to do that to bands he really liked. I think it started with the Golden Dogs at Hillside festival a few years ago. He ended up getting kicked in the chest by a guy in the band (from onstage), so obviously they didn't get that it was supposed to be ironic. Maybe the trend is spreading...? (i hope not...)

I put up some of the best shots from the show on Flickr. I have 15 of them and I don't want to make this thread super long by inserting all of them, so here's the link if you want to take a look: flic.kr/p/8T1Z9BI know it was my first, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was an incredible show.
