i believe they do have a bbc america. It is not airing on BBC World. It is not airing on BBC Canada. It is not airing on BBC Kids, which I checked in a fit of optimism. If it is airing on BBC America, I will be turning in my Commonwealth Secret Decoder ring and moving south.

Skins on the BBC? I could have sworn that was a channel 4 show.
Does BBC iPlayer work in America, or is it restricted to UK IP's kind of like Hulu is restricted to Americans?

Someone with some video/pc knowlage could upload it if you asked nicely (not me though, I'm really bad with video editing)
+Hold Steady look fab in suits +They got about 3 claps worth of applause >_> All the applause was wasted on Dizzee Rascal

I shall look to the You Tube. Happy almost New Year to everyone.

I'd give it a couple of days for them to get on YT.
The boys look like it's their prom night. Definatley the best dressed artists in the room.
+Al Murray, Sam Sparro, Annie Lennox, Matthew Horne and "Time" all seemed to enjoy the performance.

Lenny Henry (comedian who was funny 20 years ago, but is now an embarrassment) said that Franz looked like a young Gene Wilder. FN did not look impressed.

Sequestered. And whilst I think it is too "chorusey" and one of the weaker songs of SP, they completley nailed it. I was really impressed. Boys looked like they were having a good time. They looked so sharp in their snazzy suits.
+On a negative note, CF was seen clapping along to Duffy *shudder*

great performance although the bbc soundcrew did not do justice to the band - they have sounded far better at every gig and instore I have seen them do, and even on various youtube videos. Wearing tuxedos made the band look alot older and more serious than normal. Would have liked to have seen them do another song rather than be subjected to crap like Kelly Jones from Stereophonics, and the likes of Adele and the fucking annoying Ting Tings.
some of the English comedians in the audience showed themselves up for being unfunny without a script in front of them - the normally ok Al Murray was particularly nauseating, and Lenny Henry hasn't made me laugh since his Tiswas days

Because they are much more popular than the Hold Steady, and many more casual viewers have heard of them. Simple, really. That goes for every act on the programme, with the possible exception of Dave Edmunds, who's great anyway.

and the ting tings get 3 songs. why ? Lord knows! The boys rocked though - I was hoping they would get a third shot as well - but no. Sound was pretty poor IMHO - like has been said - better everywhere else I've seen them - have this on the sky box - will capture it if no-one else does - I'm intending making a end of year compilation DVD with all TV appearances and the "Sequested in Muppets" video (if permission is granted) on it Happy new year to everybody - this is the first chance I've had to post on the new board John

Yes, the sound was rubbish wasn't it. There were a lot of artistes on there that I couldn't care less for but it was always going to be like that on that kind of show. Al Murray has never made me laugh and he continued that last night by being totally un-funny (he kept repeating the word 'Hootenanny'). Hilarious. Dave Edmonds was great wasn't he........and Annie Lennox! Wort watching considering there was absolutely NOTHING on any of the other channels.

i enjoyed this very much. the boys should wear suits more often. BBC didn't do the boys justice. at all. jools holland was all over duffy. fucking hell, urgh. finn dancing makes me smile. franz did NOT look impressed with lenny henry's comment about gene wilder. lenny is not funny. neither is al murray. sequestered in memphis rocked the joint! dave edmonds was awesome, finn dancing, smiling and strumming along was even better. koob clearly wasn't enjoying the shite selection of music. dustin was on tv. so was keith was 2 seconds.
YAY FOR THE HOLD STEADY ON JOOLS!!!

jools holland was all over duffy. fucking hell, urgh. I think Jools would have been all over ME if I had worn a dress like that! I would have just swatted him away though. ;D

I'm back on my quest to figure out how to get a reliable and free UK proxy server set-up happening. So far, no luck. Someone's put a few clips up on YouTube, but only of the Ting Tings (astonishingly bad) and Lily Allen (who sounded like she sang Lady Is a Tramp in tune from beginning to end). I've sent a PM to see if s/he has THS clips to post.
I will report back.

Sod everyone else on Jools (including what they said, what they were wearing etc) ......... The Hold Steady were on the telly!!! Loved the performance, would have loved more! My kids, who are familiar with the songs - (captive audience in the car!) kept saying how ugly THS are - oh the ignorance of youth - there is beauty in that waxed moustache, and trainers with a tuxedo - genius!! As usual, when anything THS-excitement-related happens, my wife keeps saying "Oh for God's sake, you're 37......."
Anyway, Happy New Year to all THS fans - Stay Positive!

+All of the stars in the audience seemed to be enjoying THS which made me happy +I think my mum has a crush on Bobby Drake "Ooooh he's nice and young isn't he" +Dull female "singer/songwriters" make me angry. :@
