I went to Shake-It records the other day and the owner told me Craig goes in there occasionally. Yeah, after the booze and beer-soaked hangover live in-store appearance by THS there many years ago, Craig has made it a point to stop in and actually shop. It is also another opportunity to remind everyone what a huge fan of Wussy Craig is and they are supported and distributed exclusively by Shake-It. Get some Wussy albums if you have not. Start with "Attica!". That is all. I read Christgau's reviews of Wussy's records a few weeks ago, and saw that he's a big fan--I'll have to drop by and check it out for myself sometime! Thanks man. I think they had a new vinyl in the store last time I was there too, but it might've just been some promotional stuff.

Sweet stuff man! As a Cinci native it's neat hearing them talk about the place. I went to Shake-It records the other day and the owner told me Craig goes in there occasionally. I went into the HTML and downloaded the audio from the clip for archival purposes, if anyone's interested I've uploaded that here: www.mediafire.com/file/ikpbgq74y46dgyb/theholdsteady-20050601.mp3

Sorry for the double-post, but if anyone knows any connection at all to find that last show—the Triple Rock show from the next night—please let me know. It's got a different setlist to the first night, and I'm doing my best to archive as much LP stuff as I possibly can. Here's the link to that show: holdsteady.blogspot.com/2008/01/lifter-puller-live-at-triple-rock-june_08.htmlI don't know whatever happened to this guy, I just hope the files aren't lost forever. EDIT: Found them! Andrew sent them to me, the guy from the blog. I've shared them on Mediafire here.

Hey guys,
I just got back from Craig's show here in Cincinnati, and I had a fucking great time with it. Very nice, calm atmosphere, and Craig is a hell of a storyteller. Between tracks, he was taking questions about all different kinds of things. At one point, I took my chance to ask him "Will the world ever hear Bitchy Christmas?"
Craig's first response was to point out to the rest of the crowd that I was "asking about a very obscure Lifter Puller song," to which they laughed--I know I'd kind of made a reputation for being that kind of fan at this show, but I really was super curious after I'd heard about it a few months ago. He explained the reasoning for it--that in December 1998 their friends the Freedom Fighters were recording a Christmas cover of "Feliz Navidad" and asked Craig to put their own Christmas song on the other side of the tape to be sold at a show. He said that he wasn't focused on making anything great--in fact, he went to a local record store and found a copy of "Crush On You" by The Jets, wrote alternate lyrics, and then just recorded their own version of the song!
He also said that, on the recording, you can actually hear The Jets' track playing in the background, as the band was just playing along to it. "I'm not the proudest of that recording, so I don't think it'll ever be ready for the world."
Can't say I blame the guy, and it was great to hear about it like that. He also pointed out that the cover of the "Star Wars Hips / Mezzanine Gypoff" single has a photo he took at the final Descendants concert.
As for his own show, it was fucking amazing. Really outstanding stuff, he's a great host and a great guy to talk to.

Hey guys! I just thought I'd upload the (VERY) brief footage I captured during Lifter Puller's portion of the Red Rocks show. They had a camera crew and everything, so I was really hoping that we'd see some "real" documentation of the show, but that doesn't seem like it's gonna happen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAwltwzrDosI'm truly sorry for the brevity of the footage, I only got about a minute total between To Live and Die in LBI, Manpark, and Nassau Coliseum. If I'd known this is all we'd have, I'd definitely have tried my best to get more. I'll also share a few pictures I got of the stage while they were performing, if you're interested: For reference, this is the size of the crowd they were playing to: Also, here's a photo some of you might not have seen—Dan took this one before they performed, and it's one of my favorite shots from the show. All credit goes to him, over at dmonick.com

I don't know how easy it would be if you don't have a connection, but certain A/V stores (like Best Buys in higher-end locations) often have demo rooms you might be able to go "test" with some quick material, if you're ever interested!

Thanks! It was such an amazing experience. I was so lucky to finally get my hands on a vinyl copy of Fiestas for my collection, I knew I just had to do something special.

I was recently lucky enough to have a contact here in Franklin, TN (just outside of Nashville) to play my absolute favorite band's works on a massively expensive audio setup (thanks to their contact with B&W). F+F's outro on such a setup was absolutely fucking amazing. Plus, hey, I'm still a huge fan of Prescription Sunglasses so that was an amazing charm to hear. I love seeing that the band is doing shows again here and there, and I really hope Craig, Dan, Steve, and Tad are all up for doing more in the future.

I was dead-set on going to this show, and I'd bought the tickets back when they were first announced. However, that was way back at the beginning of the Summer. It wasn't until a week before the show that I was able to find tickets I could really afford to get myself out there to see them. I'd never had the opportunity to see them live, and I couldn't make last year's D4 show and I was always kicking myself. When I saw that they were having a show at Red Rocks? Goddamn, did I know I had to be there. And it was the greatest night of my life. After their set, I walked down by the side of the stage. There was a man there in a yellow Red Rocks coat, sitting in a folding chair. Before I could even say a word, he'd said "I don't know anything. Don't ask me. I can't say it anyways." I started trying to see if I could make around to the other side, maybe I'd have better luck over there. Only a moment later, I saw Craig, Tad, Dan, and Steve back beyond the gate on the side of the stage. I reached into my bag I'd brought to the show and pulled out my copy of Fiestas and Soft Rock, and said "Craig!" I didn't expect him to actually come down, but I couldn't believe it. I was able to meet the whole band even though I never thought I'd get the chance. I walked to the smoking area with Tad as he told me a story about calling his mom when the van broke down and they didn't have the cash to replace it. Steve and Dan were both great guys. The last thing I wanted to do was make them feel awkward, but it was so fucking awesome. I was also lucky enough to take home some things I'll cherish for the rest of my life. Best birthday I could've ever asked for. Here's some more photographs from the night before they set up. I did get a VERY small amount of footage of them performing. I'd love it if they could someday release the real footage they had that night—Red Rocks had some high-quality professional camera men there to feed to the screen next to the stage, so that footage has to be somewhere. and hey, here's me gurning like an idiot next to the most influential artist I know.

Bought this last night, actually, and I loved it.
The only THS song I'd heard before was "Your Little Hoodrat Friend". I really hope that they release that for RBN, too.
