42 is drawing a bead on me (a few ticks of the calendar away) but for the moment I am still in my prime (prime number that is).
But old enough to feel like senile grandpa when sharing stories of Nirvana, Janes Addiction, etc at bar shows with 20 people. It starts off as exhilirating, then gets old, or should I say makes me feel old, fast.

we're old here, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze. Corner. Now.

I remember vividly when I first got into the hold steady.
It was 2005 and I was a senior in high school. I first heard "Your Little Hoodrat Friend," on an alternative radio station we used to have in the Twin Cities called Drive 105. That station is long since gone and replaced with Love 105 but that's a whole other story.
I was driving to pick up my girlfriend at the time before school and pretty much had an epiphany in my car.
I had the song in my head all day and googled the lyrics to find out who it was and have pretty much been obsessed ever since.
I'm now 21 years old, 22 in June.

A friend got me into THS 3 years ago when I was still only 29. I'm 32 now, 33 in a couple of months. So, soon I'll be able to use "Lord, to be 33 forever" as my motto for the rest of my life.

Guess I am the grey beard (literally and figuratively) at 53. Got into the band in 2006, when I was a youngster of 50. I'm 53+1

I'm 16 now, and although it doesn't feel like it, I must have got into them when I was 13! Holy cow! These 3 years have gone way too fast... I heard Separation Sunday, and liked most of it, then got Boys & Girls In America because Stuck Between Stations was so awesome. I liked BAGIA, then I realised how amazing Separation Sunday was, then fell in love with BAGIA, got AKM and hated it, then slowly learned to love it. Next, heard SP on MySpace and hated it, listened to it again and liked bits of it, then fell in love with it. Heaven Is Whenever had me in one listen. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, and why I'm even saying this on this thread, but there we go
Note to self: Stop rambling!
PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROGER!

Damn! Just when I thought being 52 was going to win me something, Lou and Thurman edge me out. BAGIA was the first awareness for me, by the way.

I got into them when I was 17 and I am 21 (22 in a month) now. But the last THS show I went to, I went with my 37 year old friend. I'm not sure when she got in to them.

My other sister (younger) got into them around 16 and she's 18.e. I actually started listening to them at 15, about two months before my sixteenth birthday. I turned 18 less than two weeks ago. According to Tad, I'm 12.

I'll be turning 50 this year. I'd been trying to figure out what to do for my birthday. It turns out I'll be in Memphis that day seeing The Hold Steady. I'll be with my boy, he's 17. We've seen about 25 shows together over the last 3 years. It couldn't be any better (it could be a little better is some of you scenesters show up to buy me beer).
edited to add: that's 25 THS shows we've been to. I couldn't count how many total shows we've been.
