last night we played with 2 excellent locals -- dark blue (the new band from john sharkey, previously of clockcleaner and puerto rico flowers, andy from paint it black, and mike from purling hiss) and no other. it was super fun, everyone was cool and friendly and we sold so much shit it was kind of unreal. dark blue showed a rugby game behind them while they played.
tonight i went to see mikey erg and banner pilot at an early punk show. mikey did his usual thing and it was great. banner pilot played probably the best set i've ever seen from them, though it would've been cool to hear more from their new LP. ah well. now i'm exhausted.

Heard George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic last night, at a small club five minutes walk from my home.
During the first encore, Atomic Dog: stage invasion. Did George Clinton invent those, too?

Willy Vlautin performing some of the songs that have inspired his books to about 50 people in a small London bookshop this afternoon, followed by the Delines tonight, both excellent.

Saw The Jesus and Mary Chain do Psychocandy in Manchester Academy on Thursday night. Slowly getting my hearing back. If you get chance... GO! John Grant in Bristol on Tuesday next. Hoping he plays Chicken Bones (so I can fuck off now and then leave him alone!)

i ended up with a surprise free ticket to see Dylan tonight, so i did that. he played what's maybe the best sounding room in Philadelphia. his band was phenomenal as always. the set was pretty heavy on songs from recent records, which made me super happy. loved it.

Leaving for London in a few hours to see Morrissey's first UK gig in 3 and a half years. After that show I got home to my Mam ringing me in the morning concerned about my wellbeing because apparently there was a riot going on outside the Academy. I honestly had no idea til that early morning phonecall. There was indeed "panic on the streets of London"! Can't wait!

How was Fucked Up? Was it a normal show or one of their zodiac shows?

Paul McCartney in Birmingham last night. Reliably amazing. What a songbook. I even cried and rang my Dad during "We Can Work It Out". Emotional!

Bummed they aren't doing Zodiac in Toronto yet.

In exactly 2 weeks I'll be at Reading. Not sure if I'll be coming from Metallica or Azaelia Banks on the Saturday but I imagine both can put on a show I'll enjoy. I hope I get an early night. Sunday: Against Me!, The Cribs, Jamie T, Kendrick Lamar and then The Libertines. If Carlsberg made festival line-ups... (And didn't charge you £5.50p a pint!)
