Aye, as a boy from the Rhondda Valleys, all of Springsteen's songs about industry / post-industrial decline resonate with me too.

Back very late last night / early his morning from watching Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at Coventry with tbob
Setlist
1. For You(Tour debut, Solo Piano) 2. Something in the Night (Tour debut) 3. Prove It All Night 4. My Love Will Not Let You Down 5. The Ties That Bind 6. Sherry Darling 7. No Surrender (Sign Request) 8. Two Hearts 9. Save My Love (Tour Debut, Sign Request) 10. Hungry Heart 11. Out in the Street 12. Crush on You 13. You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch) 14. Death to My Hometown 15. Youngstown 16. Murder Incorporated 17. The River 18. Drive All Night 19. The Promised Land 20. Working on the Highway 21. Darlington County 22. Waitin' on a Sunny Day 23. Because the Night 24. The Rising 25. Badlands 26. Travelin' Band (Creedence Clearwater Revival cover, tour debut, sign Request) 27. Born in the U.S.A. 28. Born to Run 29. Seven Nights to Rock (Moon Mullican cover, tour debut) 30. Dancing in the Dark 31. Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out 32. Shout (The Isley Brothers cover) 33. Thunder Road (Solo Acoustic)
Slightly disappointed not to hear Thunder Road (my all-time favourite song) with full band, but that's a tiny grumble. So many other favourites, incredible energy (three and a quarter hours?!?? For a guy of that age!), lovely crowd interaction too. My third Bruce show but I was delighted to see Little Steven on guitar for the first time. Also a very touching Clarence / Danny tribute during Freeze Out.
Thanks to tbob for great company - what a night!!

Despite my ears still ringing I managed to listen to Greetings in full earlier due to him playing For You and I'm still chuffed he played Death to My Hometown. No sign required! Cheers for the company too Del. I had a blast.

I've not really listened to anything much other than Bruce in the last week. To tell the truth I'm still feeling pretty emotional from the show just over a week ago! I read this article today, I think the author just about nailed it: linkAlso a THS reference in there!

two pretty awesome experiences over the last week:
9.18. my band got to play with nada surf at bowery ballroom. everything about the venue was incredible, sounded great, super friendly staff, etc. nada surf were really nice and i was so excited to see them. never had before. honestly only got really into them a few years ago. they played great. did not expect them to hit every single harmony that's on the record. such a fun night, definitely a highlight of the year.
9.22. mid-afternoon, a friend texts me to see if i'd want a free pair of tickets to see morrissey. i'm not a GIANT morrissey fan, but i am a fan, so i figured i should jump on this. he's one of those artists that i'd really regret never seeing if something awful happened (and 2016 has been a constant reminder not to pass on those artists). i was not prepared for how loud and raucous his band is. it made for a total awesome rock spectacle of a show. i'll probably be on a morrissey kick all week now. only low point was "meat is murder". worst song.

Anyone catching Frank Turner on his UK tour. I'm going to the gig in Aberdeen. Small venue, sold out - should be good. Following directly on from the office Christmas party so may well be somewhat "relaxed"!

I'm currently in Bristol waiting for Future of the Left to come on and trying to forget this whole NYC thing is actually happening.
I mean, where is New York anyway?!
Is that the place Yorkie bars come from?!

Just got my tickets for Son Volt at the 930 Club. The new album is ferocious.
