London cabs are pretty pricy! Proper black cabs, that is. Do NOT get into a minicab unless you know where it is from and you can see the cab licence. Not that I think YOU would do that, Han. But there are some maaajorly dodgy minicabs in London (well, in any big city). I'm shocked though by how expensive black cabs are - I used one recently. I have basically never used one - as a Proper Londoner I use the tube, innit, but I was rushing to Kings X from a wedding at Tower Bridge and the tubes were playing up, so I hopped in a black cab. It took 10 minutes and cost £15! Uuuurgh. Oh, Callum, this website is useful for all London transport links: www.tfl.gov.uk/modalpages/2625.aspx

I don't recall the set, but we did get Explode and Certain Songs (full band, not Androgynous version). And there were some lyrical changes ... "We're gonna build something this Christmas", with "I can't believe all the things ..." replaced with "I can't believe that it's Christmas already/ Ladies and gentlemen we're the Hold Steady". And the keen eared will have noticed "If you get tired of your cricket friends" in You Can Make Him Like You.
Delightful to talk to Howard, Keith and Manish afterwards.

What a great gig. All the Scenesters I met in the Enterprise were wonderful and beautiful human beings (most of them were human beings anyway). Thanks so much for all your generousity Howard. Han, Keith, everyone, you made a good gig great. Thanks again.
The band tore it up big style. Opening with Hornets then diving straight into Constructive Summer without pause. I don't recall the order from then but we got Massive Nights, Cattle And The Creeping Things, Sequestered, Cutters (which was blinding!!!), Navy Sheets,Cheyenne Sunrise, Magazines, Chips Ahoy, Banging Camp, Don't Let Me Explode, First Night (never appreciated this song fully until last night), An Epic take on Discouraged, Stay Positive, The Swish, An elongated and heartfelt spoken section about 2008 in Hoodrat, Slapped Actress and an encore that started with Certain Songs.
Wonderful gig. And getting home became an adventure too, true to form I feel like I got hit by a truck this morning.

Hi all,
Finally got round to registering for this forum after seeing THS last night for the 3rd time this year. Awesome gig, I've been going thorugh my iPod trying to remember the setlist - as far as I can tell we got all of the following, but it does seem like a hell of a lot of songs! ;D Not sure about the order, although I think I've got the start and end right !

Party Pit You can make him like you Massive Nights The Swish Stevie Nix Navy Sheets Your little hoodrat friend Cattle & the creeping things? Slapped Actress

Yes, I am. Because Certain Songs is sometimes played with just piano and voice, and instead of there being a guitar solo, the piano line from Androgynous by the Replacements is played.

And there was me thinking you meant:
an⋅drog⋅y⋅nous /ænˈdrɒdʒənəs/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [an-droj-uh-nuhs] Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective 1. being both male and female; hermaphroditic. 2. having both masculine and feminine characteristics. 3. having an ambiguous sexual identity. 4. neither clearly masculine nor clearly feminine in appearance: the androgynous look of many rock stars

What what? Is the what at getting Certain Songs? About getting the full band Certain Songs? Or wondering what the Androgynous version is? Yes, the "What?!" was based on the fact that the only times I've seen that song performed live it's been just CF and FN. Full band is awesome, especially with the guitar solo.
