In the words of Gob Bluth, "COME ON!" If I weren't already planning to be there, this would have won me over.

Just asking, but I had read about a dozen really bad reviews on the House Of Blues in Chicago on different boards. A bunch of crap about the mean security. Does anybody know if this is crap or what?

We need like, a countdown clock. Or perhaps they could set the New Year's Times Square countdown up again.

The Hold Steady at the House of BluesThis is not in the least bit pretty, but apparently you can't embed Flash or widgets or that sort of thing into Proboards. Nor does the [countdown][/countdown] tag work here.

I had my tickets sent to me by regular mail...and yet, there are no tickets in the mail. I'm not going to freak out until tomorrow, but the freak out will be a massive one for certain. Anyone else getting/gotten their tickets in this manner?

Just asking, but I had read about a dozen really bad reviews on the House Of Blues in Chicago on different boards. A bunch of crap about the mean security. Does anybody know if this is crap or what? I haven't been there in years, but this has always been the case, for any HoB shows I've been to (in Chicago). It has literally been years, though (about 7, at this point), so things could've changed. It's not like anybody's going to be running around stage-diving or moshing, though...I really doubt that there'll be any problems.

...Shit, though. Just after I clicked the "Post Reply" button, I remembered a foreboding story of a friend of mine:
He was at the House of Blues to see Nelly, about two months ago, and was thrown out after two songs for being too close to the stage while kissing his girl. To play devil's advocate, though, it bears noting that that ultimatum seemed to come from Nelly, who found it distracting not to be able to be kicking it with some hot bird, rather than from the HoB staff/security/etc..
Worth noting, I guess. And a great story! Who the shit gets kicked out of a show for a public display of affection??? Apparently my friend. At, of all fucking places, a Nelly HoB show

Fortunately for your friend he was at a Nelly show and therefore most likely didn't miss much.
Great story, though!

All this security talk makes me worried. I don't believe I'll be able to sneak in those confetti bombs. I might have to just make little baggies of paper confetti.
