Reposted from the other Chicago thread +++++ VIP Ticket Info, From House of Blues Lady ++++++++ To keep Brendan from having a full on heart attack, I called the House of Blues and got this info: - the VIP tickets are for donors that have given a certain thousands-of-dollars level to the charity - the VIPs must not have been too interested in seeing THS and now we get these tickets if we want them - If you have VIP tickets you get access to the first balcony, which is reserved for VIPs only - If you have VIP tickets, you get access to the Foundation Room (hence F/R on Ticketmaster), which I assume is the Cubs Charities Foundation benefit party. I asked if the band would be there, she did not know. I asked if there would be free drinks, she did not know. I asked if John Cusack would be there, and she said most definitely. That is the word of the Lord, via the House of Blues Lady. Ooooooh! Fancy!

totally looking fwd to the mpls to chitown drive in january. WI is soooo exciting! On the way up to Minneapolis from Chicago in November, I woke up from sleeping in the back seat of Emily's car in Wisconsin so disoriented and pitch deaf from the previous night's concert (and on three hours of sleep) that I literally could not figure out the voice that was coming out of the car's stereo system. She looked incredulously as I kept asking who it was. It was Craig Finn. A Lifter Puller song. Yeah, that was a long drive.

I asked if there would be free drinks, she did not know. I asked if John Cusack would be there, and she said most definitely. I hope there are free drinks. S&G + free drinks + John Cusak = an amazing story for me to hear later. You would know! It's gonna be good. Oh, honey, I am so sad you can't be there with us. Who can bring Emily through the back door of the HOB? Anyone???

-- bump --
Are you thinking about buying tickets for the Chicago show? Are you horrified by the $9+ s/c? Have you maxed out your credit cards? Have you ... I'm out of stuff.
So, here's the deal. Why give TicketMaster/LiveNation/Whatever your money? I have extra non-VIP tickets, and would love to sell them to you. Yes, you!!! Even, better, I'd like to sell them to you for face value ($28), unless you'd like to pay the s/c too.

Brendan, as our sparkling host, are you planning any Official Unified Scene Events or are you leaving that to us to plan amongst ourselves???

We're thinking about an Official Unified Scene Brunch at Pick Me Up Cafe at around elevenish the next morning. For the night of the show, we must organize something massive...

Boooooo, I wanna be in Chicago! Such an awesome city. And to see you guys! The North American scene! If anyone feels like sending me about £500, that'd be great.

Mlle Blondette, You can fly from Leeds to Chicago for $675. That's Canadian currency. (It also allows you to return to Leeds from Chicago.) Or Manchester-Chicago, DIRECT! for $539 Canadian. That is SO affordable. If I lived in Manchester, I'd be on the next flight. But, sadly, I can't afford the time off work. (And it's cheaper to fly to Charlotte, NC from SF than Chicago. wtf?)

I was looking at the weather reports on Weather.com.
There is a 10 day forecast, so they only have the 14th up there, but it appears that the night of the 14th a little snow will be clearing out, after snowing the 13th and 14th. Let's hope that is true and the 15th is clear as a bell.
And - nice temps. In the 20's, maybe 30s, so perfect for walking around the city.
(I am not kidding, you cold weather pansies. This is perfect walking weather, you don't get too hot and you don't have to wear a scarf as you do when it is under 10 degrees.)

Right now I'm issuing my last plea to those who are undecided about coming to this gig. BE THERE! It's going to be a great evening with great people and great rock and roll. I'm incredibly excited to go to the rock show and spend time with some of the best people I've met.
In the words of Gob Bluth, "COME ON!"
