Revisiting an old thread. I'll kick it off with my personal underrated favorite. Feel free to add your own take, but these guys are right in the top 5: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IScz-m4BD_0

I'm going to throw one in the mix that's pretty left-field: Creeper Lagoon. Take Back the Universe and Give Me Yesterday is the great lost 90s album- put on "Chance of a Lifetime" and try to not get psyched up.
Also totally underrated: The New Radicals. Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too is what would happen if Hall and Oates tried to write a Hold Steady album, especially the second track. Trust me.

13th floor elevators are getting a pretty big resurgence in "cred" what with the new roky erickson record and the box set Yeah, I've noticed that which is great. I remember back 15-20 years ago they were really not getting any notice at all. So better late than never.

the box set is so awesome. it'd be great if people really start going back and taking notice. with any luck, okkervil river fans will check out the new record and then get his other stuff. god knows roky could use the money

The Kay-Settes Starring Butchers Blind.
Oh, and the Del-Vettes. "Last Time Around" is a scorcher.

there's also about a million pop punk bands i'd list mostly because pop punk is a genre that's not really taken very seriously by people outside of the pop punk scene
and thats a shame

I would call Rancid overrated, or properly rated.
Archers of Loaf.
