That's Edmonton, right? I should be there. Vancouver on the 19th, then plan on making the drive with a friend to Edmonton for the 21st and Calgary for the 22nd.
Although I was born in Edmonton, I know very little about it. So any tips/hints are appreciated. And my friend loves burgers, so this "The Hat" sounds intriguing.

Sportsnet has, I think, a double header on every Saturday morning, starting at 7 am. So unless you need to catch a particular team (c'mon Fulham!), you may be able to watch in all of your hungover glory from your hotel bed. Sounds bitchin' to me. the Chelsea match against Tottenham is on Sunday so If i'm still walking upright I may still need to find an English pub. You'll have more fun if you go to a pub, but I think another sports channel (the Score) has games on each Sunday morning. So it could be the one you're looking for. See you in Vancouver.

Does anyone who knows Vancouver, know where I can go and watch English Premier League Football on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Preferably as close to the Vogue as Possible since that's where my hotel is. Sportsnet has, I think, a double header on every Saturday morning, starting at 7 am. So unless you need to catch a particular team (c'mon Fulham!), you may be able to watch in all of your hungover glory from your hotel bed.

As far as I know, there isn't a negative connotation to the term. I always figured that it was because they peeled their clothes off.

Hey, peelers are peelers, but I thought I'd reiterate that The Cecil is only a two block stumble away from the venue of the show, while the No. 5 which is a 5-10 minute cab ride away.
I'll go watch Unified Scenesters get lap dances anywhere, but for logistics purposes the Cecil may be a better bet.

ghosttomost: It's not an office building. It's the Canadian (across from Wall Center), which is apparently dual-zoned, so the office is a 1 bedroom apt. that has been converted into an office. And it's not my full-time, permanent office, but rather an office that I have access to and use/stay at occasionally. It sounds sketchy because it sort of is, I guess, plus I'm being unnecessarily cryptic. But it's only 2 blocks from the Vogue, so it'll do the job. I was busy this morning, so my seats are row 11 of the left lower section....but I'm anticipating (hoping?) that the whole reserved seating thing will devolve into anarchy when the show actually starts.

I mostly just lurk here, but I'm really looking forward to THS playing my hometown (although less excited about the Vogue). I'll be crashing in my office that night instead of driving home to the burbs, but if anyone gets desperate they're welcome to pull up a patch of carpet. Like many others, I'm planning on doing the Vancouver-Edmonton-Calgary loop.
Re: Vancouver strip clubs, may I humbly suggest that if the field trip is to take place the evening of the show, then a more appropriate venue would be the Cecil, since it's only a couple of blocks from the Vogue? I've got to say that the thought of a bunch of THS fans taking over a strip club makes me both giddy and fearful.

Hmmm, it seems like I'm going to have to do the ol' Vancouver-Edmonton-Calgary roadtrip, followed by a long, shattered drive back to Vancouver. It'll be worth it, though.

Take them to live shows. I brought a friend to the 2 nights of THS/Drive-By Truckers in Seattle last November, THS blew DBT out of the water and that was that.
I dragged another friend to Las Vegas in April for that show. Less success there (because that friend is more of a d-baggy type who just wanted to leave the show and get to an overpriced nightclub), but he did buy a t-shirt, which he lost before THS even left the stage.
If these rumours of THS playing Vancouver in September are true, I'll be trying to convert more friends (once I have my own ticket, of course).

Thanks Cre. It looks like they haven't been to Vancouver since 2006 (before I was into them), so they're definitely due. Sadly, I looked into the LA show, but I'll be at a cabin at the lake instead. I won't moan too much, though, since I did get to see THS/DBT two nights in a row down in Seattle on the Rock and Roll Means Well tour last November. It was my first indoctrination to THS live, and it was glorious.

Damn, wish I would have found this board BEFORE I flew down from Vancouver for the show. Great time at THS, again, and thanks to Houston for putting up a running setlist so that I could piece the show together. Best moment has to have been when the garbage truck drove by during the opening band. Classic Spinal Tap moment.
