also: You Tremble falls under the rootsy/kinda countrified wing of THS (with Discouraged, Cheyenne, Sweet Part) that I'd love to hear explored more someday. they nail it. I'd say more of Craig's solo stuff falls under this bracket although I do like it more when it's THS doing it. agreed all around. A full record based around the sound of the songs I listed is my THS wish. I'm not holding my breath, but I'd love it.

I'm so excited, y'all. This was the era, for me -- I'd discovered the band and Stay Positive was the first new THS record I got to buy -- so getting to revisit it and hear new songs and demos from it is so much fun.
I wish I'd gotten to catch one of the full record performances, but I hope they've got one of those coming down the pike as an official bootleg.

I've never really gotten the Hauler hype because THS is a really hard band to capture via cell phone, but good lawd does this song rule. I listened to it three times on my way to work.

Stoked for this to (hopefully) hit digital services tomorrow, especially since my vinyl hasn't even shipped.

It's one of my favorite records ever. Exorbitant shipping or not, I have to be on it.

Pretty sure Hauler should have three asterisks and Spectres should have two. So excited for three new studio tracks; a SP-era vault-cleaning has been my biggest THS wish for years.

I dig these two. Too early to rank them, but I'm always just giddy to get the emails.
I think we're missing a slow jam and a straight up ripper like Constructive or Adderall (and maybe the big weighty closer if the band is thinking of it that way). Maybe they're just writing what comes out without trying to sequence a record, and in that case, this has been pretty cool so far.

I will ride for 40 Bucks forever, even if it not getting played during these SP shows probably means it never will. I'll rank 10.
1. Adderall 2. Cheyenne Sunrise 3. Girls Like Status 4. You Gotta Dance... 5. Records & Tapes 6. 40 Bucks 7. Arms & Hearts 8. Hot Fries 9. For Boston 10. Two-Handed Handshake

Fun idea. I've seen 10 shows and a soundcheck. I think Charlemagne, Payne, The Only Thing, 40 Bucks, and Oaks are the big gets from this list that would really get me going. And most of the other Teeth Dreams stuff I haven't seen -- I didn't get to see a proper show on the TD tour, just a chili cookoff in Richmond sans Steve. The songs I've seen most are Constructive and Sequestered, which are the only songs I've seen at every show (10). I wouldn't change it. Hostile, Mass Sketchy Metal Sweet Payne Modesto is Not that Sweet Charlemagne in Sweatpants Don't Let Me Explode Crucifixion Cruise 212-Margarita The Most Important Thing Arms & Hearts For Boston Teenage Liberation 40 Bucks Spectres Ballad of the Midnight Hauler Soft in the Center The Smidge A Slight Discomfort Touchless Ascension Blues Separate Vacations Bear and the Maiden Fair Criminal Fingers I Hope this Whole Thing Didn't Frighten You The Only Thing Runner's High Almost Everything Oaks Saddle Shoes Look Alive Records & Tapes Self quote. The above came from 10 shows and a soundcheck. 8.12.08 Chapel Hill 8.14.08 9:30 Club 11.3.08 Lincoln Theater 9.19.10 The National 9.1.11 9:30 Club 9.2.11 Jefferson Theater 4.9.14 Richmond Chili Cookoff 7.26.18 Union Transfer 7.27 Union Transfer (SC) 7.27.18 Union Transfer 7.28.18 Asbury Lanes

I'm with all of you on The Only Thing. That's a great song.
I've seen the band enough now that, almost more than my white whales, I want to see/hear Franz on things he wasn't on before. I guess it depends on his relationship with that material.
As for songs I could deal with not hearing again: Rock Problems and Southtown Girls. Southtown is probably the weak link in a distinguished line of record closers. There are others I wouldn't miss if they took a show off, but I'm actually over those two.
though tbh, if it keeps being 4 years between shows for me, it's all going to seem pretty fresh. I was pumped to hear Stations and Chips and You Can Make Him and Hoodrat and all of the other usual suspects three times in Philly/Asbury.

Chili Cookoff at the Richmond International Speedway. 4 piece band, Craig on guitar, kind of a weird, garagey (but fun) set.

Night three was a perfect capper. They stepped it up a notch at the end of Citrus, and the crowd really went nuts for Stations and kept it hopping through the end. Stickles doing Cattle was a real treat; he makes that song his own. I was glad to get Resurrection, and to make some new friends from RVA before the show.
I wish I'd worked the actual SP anniversary show into my week, I was hoping for more of those tracks on the weekend.
Also hoping that they work Franz into more of the HiW and TD tracks -- there are some winners in there that could use some shine. I miss some of those tunes.

Star 18 is probably my favourite of the whole bunch. Total jam A strong #2 for me, behind Entitlement Crew. I'm not sure what order they're in yet, but this batch is 2 & 3 for me behind Entitlement Crew. Snake in the Shower is 4. The E's are 5 and 6. All solid, though. We're due for a slow jam in one of these.

Has there been ANY talk about a vinyl re-issue? It nears 200 now for a new copy. Sure would love to get it, especially if it had Adderall (not to mention the other bonus tracks). Haven't heard anything about it. Would have been a quite obvious candidate for last Record Store Day. I've understood that these things are often quite complex deals between bands, labels and rights to this and that. But a re-issue would be nice. I'm still curious on wheter there's an recorded version of songs like Ballad Of The Midnight Hauler (when was that one first played live?), Separate Vacations and Going On A Hike (those two is surely from around Heaven Is Whenever). Would be nice to see some of them included. Or a surprise out of nowhere, like The Most Important Thing from the re-issue of Separation Sunday. Craig confirmed at soundcheck today that they're working on a reissue, and that it's taking longer than he expected because there are a lot of great demos and extras from this period that are being considered.

pretty sure every THS show i've seen that opened with Adderall proceeded to slay. Tonight was no different. Sweet Part of the City with Franz on harmonica was gorgeous, Girls Like Status got everyone moving, and it was so great to hear Slapped Actress after like a decade. Lots more SP joined the party tonight. Hoping for Spinners, Resurrection, and one of the two SP slow jams tomorrow, but will be happy with whatever -- they've brought it.

that was a hell of a show. not a lot of SP (and just Weekenders from the two albums after, though we did get three of the six single tracks), but everything had the full quota of joy and energy. band sounded fantastic. can't wait to do this two more times.

Is there definitely going to be an opening act? I haven't seen anything about one. I am actually hoping there isn't, there is another good show in Philly the 26th (Off With Their Heads), doors open a half hour later, and has an opening act, and is only a 5 minute ride from Union Transfer, I am hoping to go to both shows. <iframe width="28.200000000000045" height="3.240000000000009" style="position: absolute; width: 28.200000000000045px; height: 3.240000000000009px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_41191233" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="28.200000000000045" height="3.240000000000009" style="position: absolute; width: 28.2px; height: 3.24px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1345px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_67445642" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="28.200000000000045" height="3.240000000000009" style="position: absolute; width: 28.2px; height: 3.24px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 102px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_71402877" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="28.200000000000045" height="3.240000000000009" style="position: absolute; width: 28.2px; height: 3.24px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1345px; top: 102px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_27090957" scrolling="no"></iframe> no idea; I was just hoping there would be because some of these other residencies have had some treats.

I'm going to all three of these. Thrilled to finally get to see the 6pc THS.
Hoping for some cool openers. Hop Along is from Philly and is off that week until the 28th, so a Frances set (or full band show) would be great. James Alex from Beach Slang would be fun. Would love Ted Leo or Kevin Devine acoustic sets on Saturday.
