New Arab Strap album is excellent. First one in 16 years. Don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the new Frank Turner song definitely owes a debt to The Hold Steady. I know he's a fan.

The new St. Vincent record, Daddy’s Home. I’ve always enjoyed her music but maybe because it’s more personal I think it’s her best yet.

My banned from LWL hockey buddies and I will talk music and stay respectful. Some tunes that they shared are Metal which is out of my wheelhouse but delving into Chevelle I found 'Test Test Enough'' and got hung up on the hook. Animals by Architects. but what really got my attention was Bullet Train To Iowa by Puscifer. They got some serious shit going on there. On a lighter note Cody Jinks - Loud and Heavy!

The new Mountain Goats record is pretty excellent and it flows perfectly if you play ODP right after it

The Dark Days EP by Yard Act who I’d never heard of until last weekend when I saw them at Green Man. I can’t stop listening to Peanuts and Fixer Upper in particular but the whole EP is great. Them and the new, of sorts, Shaun Ryder album, Visits from Future Technology, which for an album that was recorded years ago, lost and subsequently found down the back of the sofa is better than it has any right to be. I’m also looking forward to the debut EP from a local band to me called COACHES. The Dreamers EP is coming out on Friday and if the first track Surreal is anything to go by it should be a treat! youtu.be/dUdXp1jnhq4

Mostly The Wildhearts. Their new album, 21st Century Love Songs, is fantastic and as an opening gambit the first few lines of the album, courtesy of the title track, are some of the best lyrics I’ve heard this year.
“It was a forgettable day, I remember it well 'Cause of the music in the lobby of the Easy Hotel Some kid was singing that he couldn't make it all by himself I said, "So this lad's an expert?" ("He sounds about twelve") He said, "A man needs a woman at the end of the day" What a moronic crock of shit for anybody to say 'Cause if you're bi-sexual, asexual, lesbian or gay Then you are not represented by the radio anyway Singing out to vanity, out of date and obsolete I want the one about the death of monogamy It's all half-cocked.”

I’ve spent a lot of time with that Ronnie Buxtons (Steve Barone from Lifter Puller’s band) record from 2015 the past couple of weeks. It’s really good! And there’s a nice little lyrical easter egg in the opening song.

I’m addicted to that podcast, History of Rock Music in 500 Songs too. It confirms the Johnny Cash story Craig sings about. Wildhearts are great, remind me of THS. Amyl are local legends, they also have songs about snakes in showers….
