ay up.
There's loads of talk about THS covering Atlantic City at the minute, but I was thinking about who'd do an amazing version of a THS song.
I'm dreaming of Phil Lynott singing "we're still losing lights in the fight for the teenage liberation"... Jailbreak-era Thin Lizzy would do a brilliant job...
What do you reckon?
*Disclaimer: obviously Jonesie does the best ones already.

Home.
Feeling akin with the nature that bore me. Something like feeling a current confederate to that of one's soul.
Nostalgia for progress. Utilising the past to cope with the present.

I write occasionally and stupidly about stuff I actually like.
Part of me thinks I'd be better at deconstruction than praise.
I did get a first for my Popular Music dissertation though, "Sparks, Explosions and Ash: Charting Promise in Rock", complete with in-joke faux-academic titles:
Sparks - Lighting the fuse to the rock canon [cringe]
Explosions - Picking up the pieces from the sonic boom [even more cringe]
Ash - The burning embers of rock's promise [ewwwwwww]
If anyone is ever bored out of their mind and fancies disagreeing with it, PM me and I'll probably take four weeks to email it to you.

Absolutely.
There should be a Hold Steady Bibliography.

Hellfire, that's an incredible line-up.
Rumours abound Young will headline Glastonbury on either the Friday or Sunday... also I've created my own rumour involving CSN playing Glasto on the Sunday, so that'd mean Young playing on the Friday, possibly.

For quality purposes Live @ The NON-COMMvention seems unparralelled and it's probably got the best of the new stuff live on it.

"he/she/you want/s the scars but they/you don't want the war"
"stuck between stations" as in "man, i'm neither here nor there. it's like im stuck between stations" or whenever the Transpennine Express takes an unscheduled stop in the middle of nowhere.
"you gotta stay positive"
"excuses, half-truths and fortified wine" seems to get used a lot.

I'm pretty resigned to my hearing being absolutely fucked. I hear in my right ear pretty much how I hear in my left ear with my finger in it.
This is the fault of The Cooper Temple Clause primarily, and is exacerbated by the fact I forget to wear plugs playing drums about half of the time.
Those Elacin ones are good, but I still find regular foam ones are good cos they just basically turn everything down for me.
Horses for courses though eh.

imagine how tiring that'd be for him though! you'd have to have Dave Matthews on in the middle to give him a breather.

everyone seems to be in a real panic about the board going downhill or something, but aside from a couple of threads where people have politely disagreed with one another i don't really see anything bad going on. the way i see it, it'll only be a big deal if people make it into a big deal. we all have our ups and downs, but i know that we've got each other's backs too, even if we don't always agree.

It's so fucking raw. It features some of the smartest lyrics I've ever heard and has THE greatest guitar solo of the twenty first century on it... Oh I voted. Yes. As a statement AKM is phenomenal. It's one of the most important albums of the last fifteen years. It's so good because THS actually FOLLOW UP AKM's statement with fucking intent over the next three albums/tours etc.

and Australia! THS managed to turn one of the most apathatic rock cities - a city that literally ignored Winnebago Deal playing in a tiny pub - into a storm of insanity but seriously at the bromance at the DMB/THS gigs will be off the charts I bought Winnebago Deal's album I think. They opened for Ash over here and they fucking ruled. If any of you out there think that THS won't be melting the faces off the crowds at these CC & DMB shows, me and Koob got one thing to say to you....... EAT IT!!! amen, that's what it's all about.

I don't get the DMB.
If you don't want to go, don't go.
It's not our divine right to see THS with the likes of The Thermals/Art Brut/DBT/The Rolling Stones all of the time.
So what, DMB and Counting Crows are overblown A/MOR. Never mind eh?
Perhaps THS will release their next album on dubbed C90s available only by mail-order just to make sure they keep it exclusive for us.

Where is "here?" In Australia we mostly rented from Billy Hyde. In England Bobby has his own kit. oh cool... yeah, when I said "here" I meant the UK. My kit is falling swiftly apart the more on the road action it sees. I'm sure it'll be fine! Didn't realise Bobby used his own stuff over here, is he still using that green Slingerland or the new natural type lookin' one? The kit he used on the BaGIA tour sounded sweet.

our amps for the festival season over here in the UK this summer:
Vox AC15 Heritage. Fender DeVille.
I'm now incredibly worried that everything will go awry.
By the by, who do you use to rent drums over here?
