I see there is no thread offering us a place to show off the records/CDs/instruments that we have bought. So here it is.
Today I bought: +Talking Heads -Little Creatures +David Bowie - Diamond Dogs +Billy Bragg - Talking With The Taxman About Poetry +Bob Dylan - Street Legal
Each cost £2 from a nearby record shop. I always root around in the £1-3 vinyl box and buy anything that looks interesting.
I find it great that for a couple of pounds you can get a whole album buy an artist. (These are my first ever Billy Bragg and Talking Heads records)

Does anyone else buy all their vinyl second hand? The shop I get it from only accepts records when they are in good condition, so you're safe with what you buy.
70% of my records are from that lovely shop, it's hidden away in an arcade on the top floor. They have their best records hanging on the wall; Velvet Underground, Beatles, The Clash... It's a shame they don't get more customers.

I re-bought Sonic Youth's 'Daydream Nation' as I originally bought it in 1988 on cassette. It's a brilliant album.

I went to the Vinyl exchange and raided the 1 Pound Rack That was in my vinyl shop for £1 as well. Is it worth a pick up, cos I may get it next week.

I lost lots of vinyl in a fire years ago. This is my third copy, get Love and Sonic Temple if you see them too. (In fact if you see Sonic Temple get me a copy and I'll pay your costs.

i don't buy as much music as some of you lot, but the last week has been nuts. i spent the gift certificate i got for christmas on: Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Fight James McMurtry - Just Us Kids The Gena Rowlands Band - Flesh and Spirits also some books, which i'll put in another thread. i ordered online; i'm really eager for these to arrive NOW. at the franz show, i got my very own copy of Franz Nicolay - Major General. and i bought a copy of the Poor But Sexy EP. Their show was way better than the tracks on their myspace. i was pleasantly surprised. i've seen them all, i think, play in other bands i like. good stuff. also, tourmaline - the swindle arrived on vinyl. awesome. also, last weekend i was home and my pop was trying to get rid of a record player that bought at a garage sale. i have been thinking of getting rid of mine because it is part of a mini stereo where neither the tape decks nor the cd player work. so, now i have another vintage mini stereo system without a cd player, but everything it does have works. so, while i was home, i happened past a flea market. i didn't have very long to spend fishing through the piles and piles of vinyl before my friend yanked me away, but before i left i picked up: 1. Joe "Fingers" O'Shay Plays Honky-Tonk Piano, solely because of this album cover: 2. Also, I got an LP called Banjo Bonanza without the album cover. It turns out that it is half of a very cool double LP with a lot of banjo greats on it. Very pleased. 3. On CD, volume 2 of a compilation record of soul music, again without a proper cover, but the CD is all Dion & the Belmonts , the Chiffons, the Drifters, and the like 4. also some hilarious books; i'll stick those in another thread. also, i finally got around to purchasing those new westerberg tracks. good. i am completely smitten with this low-budget folk rock he's doing lately. it's got some real heart. so, yeah, it's been a bonanza week for me and i discovered a record shop that i didn't know existed because i don't get out of the house enough. so, i'm visiting there tomorrow.

I realized that I had 5 leftover downloads on eMusic, so I got a few tracks from A Place To Bury Strangers, a band I'd heard alot about, but never get around to checking out.
I dig, I dig.

My Major General arrived last wekk - I'm waiting on my Fake Problems pre-order - and my emo side really wants to click 'buy' on the Morrissey release.
Does last week give me enough street cred? Hm. Hm. Hm.

And new: Les Savy Fav - Let's Stay Friends

Some noice purchases there^^^
I love the bargain bin at my local vinyl store. So much good stuff, but they are always dominated by a few shit artists. This week there was a lot of Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand... :/
