Can anyone give me some music reccommendations? I'm generally very picky, but once I discover a band I like I usually hunt down everything they've ever made. My favourite bands, in no particular order, are: Art Brut (APRIL 20TH!!!!) The Mooney Suzuki (I hope you have heard of them) The Hold Steady (duh) Drive-By Truckers Bruce Springsteen The World/Inferno Friendship Society (I've only heard Red-Eyed Soul, but like it a lot) Phantom Planet (But only their recent album, Raise The Dead - the rest are a bit too poppy for my taste. They've split up now kind of, anyway) OK Go (Only Oh No, their first album was a bit... camp.) Lifter Puller And don't reccommend me: The Gaslight Anthem Elbow The Artic Monkeys Cos I don't like any of them. I was joking about artic monkeys, I know you guys wouldn't reccommend me such nonsense.

sorry, but I don't like them. You gotta admit they're overrated though, right?

I'm not familiar with how well they are rated, but I really like them. Their stuff is catchy and it rocks. Plus they don't take themselves too seriously. They seem like normal guys rockin' out. Sure the music is simple, but simple music done well = great music in my book.

I feel really bad now. They're good at what they do, I just don't like what they do.

Don't feel bad. To each his own. I'm sure you like music I don't care for. I just didnt want people to think there were no Arctic Monkey fans among us.

Morrissey - Years of Refusal (CD) The Who - The Kids Are Alright (DVD) How you feeling about the Moz, then? I'm finding it unlistenable, and I even liked Our Frank. Maybe it's playing it with Major General and the new Fake Problems, but I just can't find a foothold. What'd you think?

last week, i dropped by a used record store. they didn't have any of the albums i actually was planning on trying to find; so i bought instead: johnny foreigner - waited up til it was light (not quite as good as i had hoped) marah - angels of destruction (i have been meaning to buy for ages - i loved this band before it imploded) compilation of sea shanties and pirate songs called Rogue's Gallery Rough Trade rock n roll compilation volume 1 i also bought this 7" because i thought the cover was hilarious: i think it helps if you know that it had a little sticker on it put there by the record store "sounds like fugazi"

johnny foreigner - waited up til it was light (not quite as good as i had hoped) give it a few more listens - there's quite a lot to take in. it's a grower. that black lois thing is totally amazing.

(thread hijack) I loved it so much my pal tracked it down and sent me a copy. It's a slice of American Awesome. There's so many things wrong with it, you can't help but love it more.
Ok, I'm taking my kid to see Cinderella. I plan to return with more tunes and un-hijack this thread.
