Great album title. Nice artwork.
Contrary to the post on the other thread, I loved Honolulu Blues, but felt that Rented Room's lyrics were a little clunky!
I reckon both will grow on me some more anyway. Looking forward to hearing the whole album. Shame no "One Single Savior" though.
Anyone heard any news of any live dates?

According to David Dye's tweets, this album will be premiered today on The World Cafe. 2 PM on WXPN-FM in Philadelphia. NPR archives the interviews from the show, but not the music he plays inbetween, so try to catch it on the stream:

Or look for a local affiliate broadcast today.

What David Dye premiered on The World Cafe was the single "Honolulu Blues." The album version. (There's a second hour of the program coming up, but if he were playing more he'd be teasing us with it by now.) Good song, slow rocker with sad and ominous lyrics. So is this Craig Finn's Christian rock album? There's a line in the song something like "We're back from Tennessee, with souvenirs in our pockets to prove we were there." Along with the overall theme of the song, which (on first hearing) sounds like people feeling dissatisfied no matter where they go, I wonder whether this is an allusion to Leonard Feeney's poem "After This, Our Exile"
It's just as dreary out in North Dakota, It's just as tedious down in Tennessee. New habitats don't help us one iota. Take it from me.
Nor does it matter if or whom one marries, Despite what's written in romance and rhyme. Helen, you know, was bored to death with Paris After a time.
Our setup is a permanent nostalgia, Our peace apportioned to another scene. Life is a pain, with or without neuralgia, At fifty or fifteen.
If there were any other hope but heaven, If joy could flint from any other spark, Think you, my dear ones, for a moment even I'd keep you in the dark?
(Leonard Feeney was a Jesuit priest, a writer and editor well-known to my parent's generation. That's your grandparents' generation for most of you, but only if they're Catholic. Feeney was ultra-conservative, in fact he may have tilted into fascism. He was excommunicated in 1953 for refusing to accept official Catholic teaching that salvation is possible outside the Roman Catholic church.)
EDIT David Dye's segue was Honolulu Blues --> Faces, "Stay With Me." It worked, somehow.

i thought rented room was only gonna be on the 7"? The actual phrasing pumping the BFRSD 7" is "The track Rented Room will not be available on any other piece of vinyl" (my italics/bolding). So, as long as the album is CD only and/or a vinyl version of the album replaces that track, the statement will hold true.

crap... now I gotta watch an ENTIRE TV SHOW ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL to understand Craig's lyrics? It's set around high school football, not college. I've never seen it, but it's supposed to be very good.

That article was annoying, and most everything else on the site was the same. I just feel bad that I clicked on a few of their links, thus boosting their hit-count.

Until the album track list was released, everyone thought "We Can Get Together" was called "Heaven Is Whenever" - so maybe (and I'm just prayin' here) the title is different or it's an unlisted bonus track or, God forbid (because I'm prayin' here, Lord) it's a B-side somewhere. It's a wonderful, heartbreaking tune. Needs to be known wider than an mp3 leak ripped off an NPR show. How could he possibly leave off "One Single Saviour"? Boo hiss. Still, I can't wait until January! ;D
