Also, I was on vacation for a week; so this *finally* came in while I was gone and I picked it up this morning and can't listen to it at work and am really, really, stoked. eeep.

some of us are more hold steady than others I guess you are right. Ya know you got the Kiss makeup on and the bloody tongue and some guy comes along in bigger 20 inch platforms and he is also friends with the guy who cuts the drummers hair. So he is the bigger fan. Someone get him a seven inch.

Oh stop crying. I remember when I was 16 and 17 and I had even less money than I do now and I'd save up to buy imported 7 inches from America. I was really into American indie, particularly anyone who had anything at all to do with Sub Pop and, later, French Kiss. I was excited and loved stuff coming in the post, even though I was at times paying £10-£20 for three or four songs at best. Colored vinyl, hand numbered, all sorts of cool shit that I decided was worth the money. Seeing post marks from New York and Seattle and LA was worth a few quid alone. Maybe it's sad and maybe it's pretentious and maybe it's exclusive but I liked the feeling and fuck you.
It's an unlucky quirk of geography that this single was released in a country that you don't live in and that they only pressed 300. Maybe they only pressed 300 to aggravate loyal fans like you or maybe Full Time Hobby just aren't particularly rolling in euros and it was a financial limitation. $10 at the merch table might seem like a lot but exchange rates are fucking brutal, take it up with the IMF or something. You'll hear the songs and they'll be great (well, Some Guns will at least). If you want to pay a load of money for an imported limited edition single, that's up you. It's also up to you if you don't.
I'm pretty sure the well intentioned inclusive spirit of 'We are all The Hold Steady' lives on regardless of whether or not you're able to buy this single.

the absolute best thing about the internet is how it's a great equalizer. anything that's super limited can be found and traded for free. people that desperately want to own it will find a way to own it, be it through import mailorder or ebay or a friend on a message board sending one over. getting packages in the mail STILL gets me all giddy. records are fun, but music is more fun. just be glad that so much music is so readily available.

I am not so sure the "fuck you" was necessary. But I will accept it as giddily as a record in the post. It's what makes the world go round ...differing opinions. As the guy above said the music can be found. I was just hoping that I would be able to give my $1.29 to Finn.

Let me reiterate. I use that term "we are all the hold steady " in a global way. I am not applying it directly to those who are in this loose grouping of people known as The Unified Scene. I have been the recipient of kind gestures from many here. When Hoodrat said some of us are more hold steady than others....I agreed.....that is just the way of the world and will continue to be long after my bones are history. Some people get included and some get excluded. As Ben said, sometimes it's a quirk of geography, sometimes it's that split second where you become a zygote...maybe you're lucky enough that it happens in Bill Gates bedroom! Maybe not. One thing that brings us all together is the music, and my point, and only point was that I wish it was available easier to all. That would help in the unification process. Now I have to go listen to Sarah, I'm Surrounded again, because I do rely on the kindness of strangers.

I am not so sure the "fuck you" was necessary. Needlessly combative for sure, I apologise.
