I'm just worried that it's one of those singer-songwriter album where all the songs sound the same. Some of these songs sound great ("Terrified Eyes", "Honolulu Blues", "Jackson") but a couple sound borderline identical ("Apollo Bay", "Western Pier", "Not Much Left of Us", "Rented Room")

a 30 second sample is generally pretty useless. i understood it when most internet connections were slow and it was tough to let people hear an entire song without it taking forever and eating up a lot of bandwidth. but now it's just annoying. post one or two full songs. good songs are way more than just the sum of their parts.

3 star review in Mojo compares Craig to Tom Waits, Lou Reed and Randy Newman. The Ancient Mariner storyteller in little glasses lurches round the corner, breaks the midnight silence with crashy drumbeats and dirty guitars. It concludes that it is good to hear him outfront, vivid, quirky and unconfined.

he's always had a little randy newman in him, between his delivery and the storytelling/characters. can't wait to hear this

I know, that sucks. The guy at my local store said he'd be stocking it on CD and vinyl...so I guess I'll see.

Just looked at venues and the Felice Brothers' (I haven't heard of them?) London gigs are already sold out.
Didn't imagine that CF would be the support.
Damn.

Looking like the Birmingham gig will be the only possibility. Wish I could do Dublin - it's been a while!
I'm working up there on that day anyway, so I think I'll swing by and have a look. Wish it was a full CF gig though.
Anyone else going?
