For what it's worth, I like this song a lot more than Hurricane J. After 5/6 listens I am undecided. I don't think it has the shear positive sound of Hurricane J, but it has a banging riff and Craig rambling on about parties, so what's not to like?! Both songs just make me want the album more

okay, so i listened to "rock and roll problems" several times in a row. and it is EXACTLY what i expected from this album. biting, funny finn-isms questioning his own ambitions (with shout-out to jim carroll!). music is guitar-heavy, driving, and repetitive, keys are mostly mixed out, and a vaguely familiar-sounding guitar solo rounds it out. this is going to fun as hell live. i can bounce along now.
and can we note the hilarity of the verse where he gets cornered in the kitchen? the guys (?) by the fridge said he didn't make the gig/ wants to know if i was drunk/the kids that he knows from the net said the sound kind of sucked.
i don't think i can sympathize with his rock and roll problems.

rock and roll problems
the girls want to go to the party but no ones in any shape to drive so we called up the guy and when he comes we're gonna ask for a ride we get to the place and she don't wanna dance she says she's not really into this track she wants to know whats going on in the room thats all the way in the back
back home we were listening to Catholic Boy and i got hung up on the People Who Died i didn't even want to go out cuz i was way too fried
she said i just cant sympathize with your rock and roll problems isn't this what we wanted? some major rock and roll problems
that one girl got me cornered in the kitchen i said i'd do anything but clean she wants to know what i like being better: trash bin or ice machine some writers by the fridge said they didn't make the gig wants to know if i was drunk he said the kids that he knows from the net said the sound kinda sucked
and i don't wanna stay in cuz the walls are so gray you can almost feel the tentacles tighten i didn't even want to go out cuz i was way too frightened
she said i just can't sympathize with your rock and roll problems isnt this what we wanted? some major rock and roll problems
didn't want to go out but i felt really light when someone put on Heaven Tonight had a moment in the middle of In Color (And In Black And White) sing along to the Southern Girls, rip me out of my little world
these are rock and roll problemsx4 this is just what we wantedx4 (guys with rock and roll problems)x3
----------------------------
thats as best as i can tell - please help with fixes.
Love that solo sound. This, is encouraging.

I coudn't work out why I was a bit disappointed with Hurricane J, I realise now it's because it wasn't Rock Problems.

And LOVE the Cheap Trick references in the last verse "Heaven Tonight" and "Black and White in Color". Jim Carroll and Cheap Trick, and in between lies..... The Hold Steady!

well good. kinda reminds me of the chugging riffs off Tommy Gets His Tonsils Out, dunno why. it's like that repetitive drinking vibe I think.

That's more like it! A lot better than Hurricane J in my opinion.
I get the 'guitar driven' bit. This sounds like a light version (or maybe a more mature, more polished version) of Separation Sunday. And I think I like that way better than the 'experimental' Stay Positive. This is gonna transfer great live!
Listened to it a second time. It's f*cking amazing. THIS is what I wanted. So simple, so heavy and yet so sensitive.
It might be sad but I have tears in my eyes. I didn't know I was looking this much forward to this.

As a radio jock, Hurricane J made me happy (as a single). As a human being, this song makes me happy (as pure excellence).
