Is the Stone Pony sold out? I've been trying to get 3 tickets and it keeps having an "error".

I had a dream that Gaslight were playing at my mates house. I went on stage to play Woody Joe, but I forgot how to play it...how embarrassing

I've been listening to this for the last week and I quite like it. Sure, there are a few clunky tunes and the Springsteen obsession is a bit much at some points but overall it just rocks.

They remind me of Against Me in a good way.

The Friday night show is sold out - they added a Saturday show.
I have tickets for Friday night and found out I can't go.
Will sell 2 or 4 tickets at my cost ($24) or less.
E-mail or PM and make an offer.

Got Sink or Swim on Saturday and think it is far superior to the '59 Sound.
Not that it is a bad album it's just not as sleek and powerful as SoS and the songs don't get a chance to properly shine through.

Although the album isn't amazingly consistent, and has a couple of rough patches. That said, "I'da Called You Woody, Joe" and "I Coul'da Been A Contender" are two of the best songs in the last few years.

"I learned about the blues from this kitten I knew, her hair was raven, and her heart like a tomb."
That line gets me every time.
Regardless, TGA remind me of what the Lawrence Arms could be if they would grow up a little bit. Not to hate on them (my young mohawked brother would sic his scenester friends on me....), but they're kind of one dimensional.
Hahah. Anyway, love these guys.

So anyone gonna be at the Stone Pony Fri or Sat?
I'll be there both nights and I'll be unashamedly hoping for setlists full of songs with Bruce and New Jersey references, the obvious and the veiled. Either way, the more gratuitous the better for me. Plus I hope they vary the setlist on Sat, and most importantly that they rock.

Brick Wall is a good choice, but I have the opposite problem. Got the tickets but can't do the pregame. Hope you make it in there. Look for THS T-Shirts if you do and say hello.

They came to town tonight. Wasn't planning on going, as 1) I'd seen em at a festival, and 2) I was scheduled to rehearse my play all night. However, I got out of rehearsal way early, and a friend of a friend had two extra tix, so I went, got drunk, and had a great time. They covered "Left of the Dial" AND "Straight To Hell". I was bummed they didnt play "I'da Called You Woody, Joe", but when they busted out STH, all was forgiven. Great show.

And I got a high-quality recording of both Pela and Gaslight. In addition to the two previously mentioned covers, Pela also finished up with an excellent version of "Guns of Brixton."

For anyone interested the show was great. I know there are detractors or some who are iffy on these guys, but unless you really dislike them it is hard not to love the show they put on. Made me jump around, dance and sing every word. I went to both Stone Pony shows and they were awesome. Varied the Night 2 setlist just enough, great performance, great energy and the whole place singin' along. People were really packed in both nights and it was sweltering despite an awesome breeze off the ocean. A little of everything - good mix of both albums and the EP across both nights, mosh pits, "Stand By Me" into "I'da Called You Woody, Joe" both nights, "American Girl" on Night 2, and "What Becomes of The Broken Hearted" on Night 1. Mosh pits and Motown - Fuckin' A, Dude! A lame interview with Benny the drummer, unless you are concerned with fast food in New Brunswick, NJ (which I am) plus four decent video clips. www.nj.com/ledgerlive/index.ssf/2009/05/gaslight_anthem_at_asbury_park.html
