I live here, and I wouldn't go into Shaker Heights for a show! That's disconcerting. I used to shake it up in Shaker Heights. Many years ago. Then we moved to Chagrin Falls. Yeah, I grew up in NE Ohio and I remember SH being the "uppity" burb of Cleveland...things have changed?

Yeah, I grew up in NE Ohio and I remember SH being the "uppity" burb of Cleveland...things have changed? The demise of the eastern inner ring suburbs has been greatly exaggerated; lived in Cleveland Heights for 10 years nearly to the day, and reluctantly moved 2 months ago. Enjoyed many concerts at the Grog Shop, included a THS show that started damn close to midnight.

(I have no opinion on Ohio 'burbs, but will definitely be making the trip down to NYC whenever they announce a show there. Even if it's a weeknight and I have to cancel class the next day...)

I'm still hoping that the Michael Jordan UNC pic means Cat's Cradle. I am SO hoping for this. Any other thoughts? I hope it's not a festival- I'm too old to hang with that! Tim

The fastest way to ruin a good dive bar is to tell everyone about how cool it is. The next thing you know, they jack up the drink prices, fill the Jukebox with Top 40, and deny you a seat because the place is packed with hipsters." via a Cleveland Plain Dealer article re: the ESPN 30 for 30 doc "Believeland".

Songkick.com now is listing them as playing on Friday September 2nd. It then lists the generic Riot Fest dates of Sep. 2-4 and Sep. 16-18. Any ideas on why we haven't heard of other dates? Could they be waiting until Riot Fest officially announces which day they are playing so they can announce club shows in those cities?

Lot's of things need to be aligned in order to launch the rocket? A bottle rocket. Humor or foreshadowing? Rich, if you had to guess how many shows in addition to Riot Fest the guys are playing would you put that number above 8? Call it a gut a feeling, but I think it's going to a quick tour with stops in Minneapolis (between Riot Fests), a club show in Chicago, 2 in New York and few others sprinkled within driving distance on the East Coast (Philly, DC, maybe Atlanta). If you can align the stars for a Charlottesville show then drinks are on me. All. Night. Long.

I've always loved bottle rockets. Pretty good bang for your buck firework. Surprisingly accurate after a few practice shots too.

First Avenue website doesn't have anything booked for Sept 10th (Saturday), but there is a show on the 9th in the Mainroom. If they are only playing one date in the Twin Cities, that would be the one that made the most sense, I'd think.

I think(hope/pray) they'll play one night at First Ave. and a 2nd night a different venue. A couple years ago they played a night at First Ave. and a second night at the Caboose outdoor plaza. But Sept 10ish might be kind of late in the year for an outdoor show.

What a cock tease to announce this tour a month ago and still not have dates. Hopefully soon.

What a cock tease to announce this tour a month ago and still not have dates. I am pretty sure we've been through this before - at no point has a TOUR been announced nor has the word "tour" been used by the band correspondence. There was an overwrought six-day countdown leading to rampant speculation where most everyone seems to like to throw out the word "tour". Because Hoodrat loves it when I quote myself (just one step away from referring to myself in the 3rd person asshat-ery), let me put this out one more time in case anyone missed my post one month ago: We will be playing a limited number of live shows this fall to celebrate.
This does not constitute "touring". Take it for what it is worth and do not set yourself up for disappointment. That is all I was trying to explain. Limited.

To be fair, the subject line of the email announcement used the words "Our First Two "Boys & Girls in America" 10th Anniversary Shows," which implies there will be more, but it's been nigh on three weeks without anything new.
Now, I generally agree that it's not good to overinflate expectations, and calling it a "cock tease" is definitely overwrought. But I can understand some frustration about the lack of further news. (He says, hoping to have the chance to make a run down to NYC for a show...)

I guess it depends what your definition of "tour" is...
Tour a journey made by performers or an athletic team, in which they perform or play in several different places. "she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company on tour"
I know we're going to end up here, so I'll go ahead and point out that the word "several" is defined as...
Several more than two but not many.
So, with two shows already announced, adding at least one more would qualify, by definition, as a "tour".
jeez

I can't explain my loathing for festivals except to say that I don't like that many bands, I'm poor, and I hate standing for long periods. Especially now that I don't drink and can't just waste the hours between bands I like, I'm less happy if I have to buy tickets to riot fest to see two bands (my two favorites, and I've never gotten to see against me live). I would happily drive to new york or minneapolis to see these guys one night only, but...
Ugh- to be complaining about such things makes me feel old.

Nothing is worse than sitting thru a bunch of bands that suck to get to one that you like. If they don't play Ottobar/Rams Head Live or the 930 I won't be seeing them.

They announced shows w/ Franz for 10th anniversary for BaGiA. When a band goes out for multiple dates I say "tour", I'm not expecting like 40 dates obviously. I just thought we would've heard some more information by now given the amount of time passed since the announcement. We're all just looking to get our fix.

Man, it seems like I only kinda complain on here, but I bought the three-day Denver Riot Fest tix because of the lineup and THS, but now there's a lifter puller reunion at Red Rocks on Friday? What's a guy to do!
When it rains... Haha
