Dude, it's awesome. I like the vocal effect and think Craig's vocals are finally mixed properly. I hereby disagree with production complaints, cosign Rich's AKM crack and look forward to what looks like an arena ready rock blast.
Long live Charlemagne.

The production is what a rock record should sound like. The bass and guitars and drums are just so money. Potential crossover success awaits our beloved THS.

Sounds a lot like Idlewild. Haven't heard that name in years, but I totally agree. Really good song though.

Finally had the chance to listen and, man, it is so so good. The bridge is the only thing I'm not 100% on at the moment but everything else is just fantastic

I think, instrumentally, it has a kind of emo rock vibe. (Suits the label) but then, I guess that's what got me into The Steady anyway, with Your Little Hoodrat Friend. I bet this post goes down well.

The bridge is the only thing I'm not 100% on at the moment but everything else is just fantastic I was sorta iffy on the bridge too, then I gave it a listen after getting off work around 3am without any distractions and just it clicked for me and I can't stop air drumming. I think I'm gonna avoid listening to any of the other songs that will inevitably be released between now and release date and wait for the vinyl to show up. Hopefully we can preorder soon!

(I'm assuming "tapping your arm like you wanted to cruise" is a drug reference?) In most other cases I'd agree that "tapping your arm" is a drug reference, but people also do this when they're nervous/uncomfortable or impatient, which I think fits in better with the song and her suspected fear.

I hereby disagree with production complaints, cosign Rich's AKM crack and look forward to what looks like an arena ready rock blast. Welcome back Liz. I just saw somebody post about an hour ago on Twitter: 'Why is it that peoples' first reactions to new recordings focus so intensely on production choices rather than content? Is that a new thing?' ... and that is a more concise way of saying what I had been thinking since this post popped up. Instead of celebrating the content of the first new song release in years, folks are splitting hairs and speculating on production issues based on a compressed 'net stream? Odd. Personally, I was mentally throwing four fingers in the air the second time I ever heard the line "running up the score and stocking up like it's World War IV" and the production and mix were about the furthest thing from the rotting grey matter between my throbbing ear drums. But, to each their own. Oh, and the guy that made that post on Twitter? Him name is Franz Nicolay. Was he talking about the new THS song, I most certainly doubt it. But it rang my bell.

I've also read some complaints in comments sections about the lack of keys. First of all, I love Franz and have seen him post-THS twice in concert. I love what he brought to this band and respect the hell out of him to boot. But bands evolve. There would be would be nothing worse than if THS turned into a parody of themselves and tried to make BAGIA over and over again. They're un-nostalgic and have clearly entered a new phase with Steve on board. So in addition to embracing the fact that there's new THS music in the universe now, let's also embrace that the band is willing to take chances and is not content with their prior achievements or successes. And If you want keys, go listen to Stay Positive - they're sure as hell turned up far enough in the mix.

Let's embrace the huge rock sounding riffage that will echo around theatres for the rest of the year. This tunes a monster

I like his framing of HiW. Definitely a transitional record in hindsight. And if the lead single is any indication, addictive sounds like a proper adjective for what's to come... SO... we have our lead single... this is the full list of tunes either suspected or confirmed to be on the new record: I Hope This Whole Thing Didn't Frighten You (confirmed) On With The Business (confirmed) The Ambassador (confirmed) Teeth Dreams (suspected) Look Alive (suspected) Wait Awhile (suspected) Records and Tapes (suspected) Runner's High (suspected) Big Cigs (suspected) Rainbow (suspected) You Gotta Move (suspected)
