I don't know whether to pledge now for the cheapest or wait to see if they let you pledge any less to just be in the fan club, kind of short on cash and the prices double when you say you're in the UK!

I believe there is a minimum pledge (less than $15) you can make just to get a digital copy of the EP. Anyone know how to do this?? Tried this yesterday, pretty sure the minimum pledge is $15 which includes a digital download for the covers EP (in addition to the other stuff). It's possible that once they reach their goal, you can donate less but I doubt it.

Looks like they'll hit the goal by the end of the day.

To me The Unified Scene has always been a community, maybe for most a virtual one, but a community nonetheless. The most positive thing any community can do is respectfully unite (or in this case, be unified?) with its shared interests, resources, and enthusiasm when called upon to help others in a time of need. JerseyMike helped build this community as much or more than anyone and this is an amazing opportunity to honor his memory and thank him for all the shared friendships and good times that were occasioned by the existence of these boards and in turn, the community it grew to be. The band has been generous enough to offer their time, talents and notoriety towards a cause, that I can personally absolutely vouch for, is very close to their heart. Keep in mind, they absolutely did not have to do this, and I am pretty sure no one really would have noticed if they hadn't. ... In summary, I hope everyone in this community can stay positive and rally around a good cause while knowing there are some massive things in the pipeline for 2014. - Rich Thanks Rich. I have no doubt that the band's collective hearts are in the right place when it comes to Jersey Mike and his family. I can also personally attest that they want to continue to help his kids and honor his memory. I'm probably being petty about having to pay to join the Unified Scene- though they share a name, there's a difference between the official fan club and the organic, grassroots community that many of you have nurtured. I'm actually thrilled to see all the posts and excitement over the band's reappearance and look forward to a new record and to seeing many of you at a show next year.

I keep getting kicked out after I hit the pledge button. Anyone else having this issue? Has the goal been met? Says 93%.

there's a difference between the official fan club and the organic, grassroots community that many of you have nurtured. Exactly. Nowhere does it say the band is "taking over a fan created group." No one said that shirts can not be made and exchanged for free. No one said that unified mix cd or holiday cookie exchanges could not happen. No one said that you must pledge to be a member of this board or to get a blue shirt. Everything that is being offered in the "pledge drive" campaign is on top of everything currently exists in this community. What is being offered has a monetary value attached to it for two reasons: 1) there are hard costs involved, seen and unseen, that are required to make this fundraiser and rewards happen, and 2) to raise money for the K&L Foundation that quite frankly, is money that could or would not happen without this campaign. Keep in mind no one in this band is getting rich and I may be out of line in saying this, but to this day they all maintain side jobs from bartending to session work to pay the rent. The fact they are donating their time and talents to this very specific and focused cause is nothing short of admirable. It is simple to me, if you want to honor JerseyMike's and his legacy, do what you can to contribute. As I said in my earlier post, the contribution does not have to be through the campaign (contribute directly) and does not even have to be monetary. Be creative. Be positive. Get big picture and remember there are two kids out there who will never get to grow up with their dad and anything we can do as a community to rally in his memory is special. I dream of an opportunity to photograph the band handing over one of the cheesy giant 6 foot long cardboard checks made out to the K&L Foundation for thousands and thousands of dollars into Billy van Jura's hands at the Abbey Bar in Harrisburg PA. Are ya with me?

Hey, guys and girls. It shouldn't have taken me so long to join on here after 6-ish years of loving THS, but I thought it finally time to get stuck in since I just pledged for the jam session! I'm pretty excited by all this, and like a lot of you I really hope that a fair share of the procedes will go to K&L.
Anyhow...I'm Alex, and it's nice to finally start posting here. Whenever my jam session ends up happening (in Manchester, UK) I'll be sure to let y'all know how it went!

Looks like they'll hit the goal by the end of the day. It would seem that the Unified Scene didn't need much reviving.

i could wish folks didn't dwell on negativity. I'm one of those negative people. My feelings were really hurt by the words "the revival of The Unified Scene." They made me feel as though something that is real to me didn't hold any significance for the band. And then I realized I should grow the fuck up. My feelings were hurt by a piece of marketing bumf. From a band. I am a child.

Bit of an annoying way of doing it for those who don't do vinyl... I believe there is a minimum pledge (less than $15) you can make just to get a digital copy of the EP. Seriously, can anyone tell me how I can do this? I'm not always the sharpest tool in the box but I can't see this anywhere as an option??? Thanks

1st post after being a longtime UK fan - always lurked but felt this forum was a bit of a US thing. I think pledge music is so punk rock, it's the only way to cut the corporations out of the music industry - Stiff Little Fingers did a similar thing and it is working brilliant for them.
I just think that it is great that the Hold Steady interact directly with their fans via forums / facebook / instagram etc
Tad is a guitar hero!
Can anyone tell me how to get the $15 digital download.

Yes. I know, thanks.
But if I just put an amount in the box to pledge, it tells me I have to choose one of the "exclusives".
Anyone want to explain this to me step-by-step?

crowdfunding in general rubs me the wrong way, but $15 is a fair price for a 12" in 2013 and supporting mike's kids is a great cause. this will probably be the only plegdemusic/kicstarter/whatever i ever give money to

Hey all. The thing that I like most about the campaign is that it has encouraged me to come on here an look what other THS fans are saying/think. I have known about this for awhile, just was never sure how to jump in despite being a THS enthusiast since I was able to interview them at my first show as a fan (yeah I know, everyone is a critic and most people are DJs). I am looking forward to seeing what is going on with this community.
Being relatively new to the site, I am not sure if this has been addressed or not, but has anyone heard any info or leak on what the covers on the EP might be? Also, are the shirts in the campaign the ones numbered ones that I have seen people wear at the shows? Either way, it is great to see some activity from the group.
