I can't go to this, but I just wanted to say - if you can, I'd definitely make sure you see the support band Joe Gideon and the Shark. I've seen them a couple of times here in Brighton and they are hella good

I know! It's a real bummer. I'm still contemplating the CC gig in Brighton, but I'm not sure it's a good idea... JG+tS are awesome though! They supported Nick Cave, and if you like Nick Cave that will be a pretty good sign that you might like them!

I'm going to need to do some mad driving to get to Cambridge from Swansea (W.Wales) and then on to Birmingham to work the next day..... But, the alternative is driving to Cornwall or making do with the Crows support slot in Cardiff. Going to have to go to Cambridge!!
Probably couldn't last a day without listening to THS, so the idea of missing a chance to see them again would be ludicrous! Loved them in Bristol Xmas time. Gotta get tickets! See you all there - I'll be the the balding bloke failing to act his age in the front row!

Yes, I am indeed! Something of an outpost for THS? Can't seem to find too many people here or on my many travels (working) around the country (England, Wales etc) that have heard of THS......poor lost heathen souls!!
Would've gone to THS gig in Bristol, but it's my daughter's 13th birthday. Despite converting her to the Beatles, Magic Numbers, Kings of Leon etc, she's stuck in hip hop and pop so won't come with me!
Sorry so long to reply!
Arhosa 'n bendant! (Stay Positive!)

I'm going but I said that about Roundhouse and look how badly that ended. Tears, tears and more tears. Nothing will keep me away from this one.

Despite everything I've said... I am now thinking about going to this:) I can get to Cambridge and back on a coach for about £6, which is pretty irresistable. But in this same week I have a demonstration at uni that I can't miss, so I need to confirm what day that is on.. If it doesn't clash I think I'm gonna hop a coach and be at the rock show!

This is good news! I'll keep my fingers crossed that things don't clash. Doesn't look like we will make the CC gig in Brighton now so will be great if you can make Cambridge. I'm just unbelievably excited about this gig and look forward to seeing you all there

This is going to be my first Hold Steady gig, I'm hoping to buy one of the tour t-shirts they have on the website. Usually, gigs have the merchandise there to buy, just wanted to check this is the case with Hold Steady shows, and if the prices are pretty much the same as online.
Can anyone help?

At the Cologne show they had merch: the motorcycle tour shirt and another. Same (rough) price as the website. Also vinyl, which I didn't want to shove into my soft-sided bags for the five hour trek back to Groningen

elliptical, I was momentarily excited seeing you post here in case you were coming to England!! theblondette (cher rachel...), I would love to come to visit. And I will somehow accomplish it one of these days... but I don't know where and when and how. But somehow I seem to wind up on your fair shores fairly frequently. (Can you tell that I'm writing this at around 3 in the morning?)

*coughcoughbirminghamcoughcough* it's in the middle and that is that directed at me? the best thing is that brum is only 1.5 hours from harrow-on-the-hill on a direct train, and i'm in harrow roughly once per year... so i think it's quite likely one of these days ;D
