There appears to be a cocktail bar called Nusha very near the venue! From what I remember The Junction is part of a modern leisure complex so there are plenty of places to eat and drink. Pub wise The Earl of Derby on Hills Road and The Rock on Cherry Hinton Road are only 10 mins away but no idea what they're like: www.theearlofderby.co.uk/www.wheresbest.co.uk/venue/22356/The-Rock/Not sure what time we will have for pre show drinks as plan to head for the venue at 7 but look forward to seeing you all there. Yay!

Today's the day!!! Very excited about tonight! Going to head off some time early this afternoon - I'm sure the M4 / M25 will do plenty to calm me down! Hoping to get to Cambridge in time to grab a bite to eat and a quick drink before 7pm.....need to be front row!
Not sure if people are meeting anywhere - be good to say hello.
Counting hours..........

I've almost forgotten how to rock out at a gig. But I'll be there tonight and I know Wealdstne will be too. And I'm sure the boys will be as great as ever.
I'm a bit worried about an early stage time as the boys wre on at 8.30 in Leeds last night. so I'll try and stop in at the Earl of Rock on Cherry Hinton Road as suggested by Masha (will be good to see you) - if not, see you at the front.

Howard it was even earlier than that in Leeds last night - 8.20 - which was a real surprise! I was planning on going for another pint on the way - thankfully I didn't. May be worth you guys making sure you are in there reasonably early.

The early stage time last night was because the cockpit had some disco thing on after so they had an early curfew. Not sure if they'll be on as early tonight. Enjoy it!

"...and Bobby's gone blonde "
I'm glad you said that, my friends took the piss outta me when i said i thought his hair colour had changed overnight. Such an awesome setlist. On the way i was telling my mates i hoped most that they played Magazines and How a ressurection really feels, cause they're my two favourites they didnt play at leeds last night, then we just got like 6 other different, awesome songs, too.
Can't wait till they return for another tour.

Just wanted to log in to say what a brilliant gig it was last night. First time I've seen the band live in person, been looking forward to it for ages, and they certainly didn't disappoint. Great atmosphere, great show all round. I reckon The Junction is an excellent venue for the Hold Steady too.
The support act were interesting. Worth getting there early to catch them.
And if anyone has a setlist, that would be great. I always mean to remember, but it somehow doesn't happen.
To the band: thanks so much for coming to this little city. Hope we'll see you here again soon.

As Wealdstone says, that gig was indeed quite something - he forgot to say there was a rare outing for Chillout tent too. And always great to hear Resurrection. It will certianly live in the memory.
Its always worth travelling to see THS as there are number of great things going on (Knuckles in Wolverhampton in December was a good example).
Bobby has gone very bleach blonde indeed.
It was a very good atmosphere, and the band were as tight as ever. And as ever, they absolutely stormed it. I just wish Falmouth was a bit nearer than the best part of 5 hours drving away (and that drive was not ona bank holiday friday. Oh well, next time I guess).

I got a setlist off the stage after the show, asked one of the staff members to get Craig's one off the speaker. Awesome gig, nothing else to really say.

Hello To all of you who attended the Gig last night, again another awesome night. Enjoyed the support act great lyrics and the drums what can i say . Also nice to meet some of the unified scene outside Nandos . My brother ,Ben, was also impressed with the scene and The Hold Steady he discribed himself as a Hold Steady virgin I gues he is now deflowered!!!

It was a great set. Sweet Payne & 212 Margarita were unexpected gems, and Resurrection gave me goosebumps (again).
Took four THS virgins with us last night, none of whom had ever even heard of them before. Two converts, one terminally confused, and one who couldn't get past Craig's delivery but loved Tad and Franz.
I'd also put a word in for the support, Joe Gideon and the Shark (whom I have seen before supporting Nick Cave) - they're worth turning up early for.

The support were quite enjoyable, the Shark was very good at handling keyboard, mic, drums, a big box thing behind recording some stuff to play back. I enjoyed Kathy Ray and Anything That You Love That Much Will Return Again.

Just got home and am still buzzing from last night. Amazing gig thanks guys. 212 was such a treat and have had Sweet Payne on repeat in my head all day. Was great to catch up with Howard and Keith and meet Tiger, Ben and others. Sorry didn't stay and chat longer and share a beer but needed to get that front spot! Also met four guys in the pub later who had travelled down from Liverpool!
Lee saw you snapping away at the start and really look forward to seeing your photos.
Soo tempted to make the Falmouth gig but just don't think funds will stretch that far...Still seriously thinking about it tho...
Either way already looking forward to my next THS fix. It really is an injection of joy that needs repeating as often as possible.
BTW I believe I was the only one wearing a US Tshirt?!

Only got home late last night after a long trip - from Swansea to Cambridge for the gig, then overnight up to Walsall for work yesterday, then home to Wales last night - wrecked now!
Spent most of yesterday morning in work speaking far too loud (whilst delivering training) due to the ringing in my ears (which still hasn't gone!)
Great gig! Tiny venue, rammed packed full and everyone up for it. Loved being in front row - apologies to anyone I sweated on!! Joe Gideon and the Shark were the weirdest but coolest thing I've seen in a while, especially the drumming (nice old drums too!) Also, such a huge age range at the gig, from teenagers up to 50 somethings (I'm somewhere in middle!) The gig seemed to be much more fast-paced than the last THS one I went to - song after song with almost none of CF's usual talk (maybe the 12-step "shutting up" programme is sadly working!)
Lots of songs I wouldn't have expected - so pleased to get Positive Jam and Resurrection. I hate to quibble but I would have happily swapped Sweet Payne, Jamaica, or Actress (sorry if that's blasphemy!) for Chips Ahoy, First Night and especially Killer Parties.
However, that;s just me being greedy! Great gig, and even if CF didn't say it - so much joy!
