After many, many listens; my personal conclusion is that there is not one bad song on this record. As for the Apple thing, man up and buy the track! You know it'll be worth it......

I'm pretty sure you have to buy the WHOLE ALBUM on itunes to get touchless. But let's be frank, it'll be easy to find on the interwebs.

Really love this album. It took a little bit to really get into some songs. But that's the difference, HS songs have something that makes you want to keep going back

Finally put my finger on what 'Our Whole Lives' sounds like.
Everything down to Craig's vocal delivery to the punchy guitars and horns reminds me of a Rocket From The Crypt song

I think it's time to rate the individual tracks. I guess this will change in a few days or weeks, but this is how I feel about each song right now
Sweet Part Of The City -- 9/10 Soft In The Center -- 9/10 The Weekenders -- 8/10 The Smidge -- 8/10 Rock Problems --9/10 Heaven Is Whenever --8/10 Hurricane J -- 6/10 Barely Breathing -- 8/10 Our Whole Lives -- 9/10 A Slight Discomfort -- 8/10

When I first heard the album front to back (NPR stream, stoked for release day so I can get a vinyl) I fell in love with it, and I still feel the same way. Whenever I'm prepared to announce "THIS is my favorite song on the record!" the next song comes and I'm suddenly not sure anymore. I literally can't pick a favorite! Each song seems better than the last. Perhaps the weakest song on the record (in my opinion), is The Smidge, and even that song rules!
I might get crucified for this, but I can easily see this becoming my favorite THS album. As amazing as the others are, they all have small weak parts, and I just can't find one on this.
Lame as it sounds, this album speaks to me.
(First time post, by the way)

right chaps, gonna give this a go, please don't be offended by some of the scores because these tracks are being rated in relation to the entire THS back catalogue which is mostly 10/10
Sweet Part- 5/10 Soft in the Centre- 8/10 The Weekenders- 9/10 The Smidge- 6/10 Rock Problems- 4/10 (I really can't get into this one, as much as i try) We Can Get Together- 6/10 (would be a strong 8 if it wasn't for the God awful ending) Hurricane J- 8/10 Barely Breathing- 8/10 Our Whole Lives- 6/10 A Slight Discomfort- 7/10 (Lyrically this a 9/10 though)

OMG somebody check me on this. I got a good listen to "The Weekenders" on XPN this afternoon, and the backing vocals on the chorus -- over
So if it has to be a secret Then I guess that i can deal with it
Aren't they almost the same as the backing vocals on the Intro to "Hurricane J"?
I've always loved the way THS tie songs together with recurring lyrics ("words along can't save you" "boys and girls in america"). When they do it musically, too, I'm blown away.

The 1st time I listened, it was incredible. Quick. I am currently 50 listens in. It still goes by quick. Quick like Separation Sunday. Perfect. No wasted seconds, leaves you wanting more. I can't wait to hear it on vinyl.

It was the same for me at first, now it's just Rock Problems that I don't dig. The Smidge really grew on me.

now it's just Rock Problems that I don't dig. perhaps you don't understand humor. I see it as a fucking funny-ass take on the set piece that every classic rock band trots out eventually. "Rock 'n Roll Band" by Boston, "What's Your Name," Skynyrd, "Long Way to the Top," AC/DC, "Juke Box Hero," Foreigner, "Dead or Alive," Bon Jovi, "Shooting Star," Bad Company, "Turn the Page," Bob Seger, etc. etc. Even "99 Problems" and DBTs "Let there be Rock", except instead of doing anything rawkish, CF is just trying to get out of doing the dishes, taking anonymous internet criticism, and dealing with drunk girls trying to be arch about his lyrics. Just what he wanted. I love the lyrics, it's the guitar that I don't dig. It's fun, I'd enjoy it live, I just haven't gotten into it like all the others. I know I will eventually.
