I actually look at an album cover and think "Just a short time ago this was not part of my life..and now...fuck". I think alot about the albums the boys have delivered and I swear to God, I cannot remember being this moved by the music. Pretty much ever. Sure theres been times, good fucking times, believe me. But listening to this band, man, they just seem to have wrapped it all up for me. Everything I like is here. And I just dont fucking understand why they are not selling shitloads of product. Part of me doesnt want them to be discovered, but I know that if they dont get whats coming to them soon, it may not last much longer. They need the big payback. And thats what worried me about the now. Why cant I just listen to that. The sound of me enjoying them now. I gotta stop thinking about the what if's and the whens. Is it almost time for Irving Plaza?

Dear Mr. Salesman,
It IS almost time for Irving Plaza. You will make it until then. I promise.
PS - I like it when you get effusive.

You know what I mean dont you? Its that feeling of having something right there, but you just KNOW its not going to last. Like watching the sunset, or a day where the sky is just ice blue and you can look up at it and almost fall upwards into it, but you just KNOW that one wisp of a cloud can shake the whole foundation. Thats the part that worries me. The part I hate, and try and control. I dont think there isnt a moment when I listen to Banging Camp that I dont feel like I've been saved from the mundane.

And that "These guys and those guys and us guys...we're all....The Hold Steady" Damn, I just want that to continue.

That starting "he said hi, I like to party on the problem blocks. and I can't stand it when the banging stops." is one of my favourite moments in music ever.

How can you make this for a Black berry? I don't know exactly, but at a high level, this is what you'd do: 1) If you have iTunes, use these instructions to create a file of the first 22 seconds: topconverter.wordpress.com/2008/11/04/custom-free-ringtones-for-iphone-3g/2) Figure out what the right format (mp3, wmf, etc.) is for ringtones on a BB 3) Convert your snippet to that format 4) Upload that file to your BB and select it as your ringtone

Can't you just put the whole track on the blackberry and it will play the start as the ringtone...
My text ringtone is How a Resurrection Really Feels, which is a pretty sweet ringtone.
Call ringtone switches between Constructive Summer and Knuckles

What's wrong with the iPhone(aside from the price), my friend has one and it's pretty nifty.

Thanks to all, my ringtone is now Banging Camp. And I have an Itouch and like it better than my old U2 signature series Ipod classic.

I made my ringtone too- it's the beginning of Stay Positive- I got a lotta old friends who are getting back in touch and it's a pretty good feeling, yeah it feels pretty good. I thought that was real clever.
Sometimes I forget to turn my phone to vibrate during work and I'll be in a meeting and Stay Positive starts playing from my pocket. Everybody looks at me and I always start laughing- they have no fucking idea!
Yeah Bible I know what you mean.

Bible - know what you mean, man. Though, I must confess, I have a few other bands (and by few, I mean one) in which I have a very similar unexplainable love for. When they get on stage or sneak through my car radio, it is like this out of body, euphoric experience. Their lyrics are seamlessly inserted in my everyday conversation. The refrains are always my defense cases. As for the "now" of it all... those are the shows. Those 75 - 90 minutes of pure, unadulterated bliss, when there is no tomorrow, no looming bills, no mountain of unfinished paperwork, no guilt, or what-ifs, or am i being a good enough person. There is only right then, at that moment.....
As for ringtones, I currently use Citrus for the majority of my callers and Chicago for my love (because even though he can't save me....he usually gets me high as hell).
The weather is getting warmer..... And, for me, that means more shows. Rock On.

Muse were previously my unchallenged favourite band from the age of ten (eight years ago), but in August a friend sent me "Slapped Actress", and it has utterly changed my musical experience. I've listened to almost nothing but The Hold Steady and Lifter Puller since then, and I could keep doing so for quite some time.

Great thread. I haven't been able to listen to much other than THS for about a year (first introduction). Every time I introduce the band to one of my friends I can immediately tell whether they get it or not. I'm not much for words, no way could I explain how much pleause their music brings. The best part of the band for me is finding a new favorite song each day.
