yeah, but you know when some really obese goth girl's walking around in just leather underwear and fishnets and too much bad eyeliner and people are like "what the fuck's wrong with you?" and she's all like "you wouldn't be looking if you didn't want to, handsome", but that's not how it is at all! speak for yourself

And Mike she is probably right. I read this study once that said humans and particularly males once they reach puberty think of sex almost immediately when seeing someone for the first time. The initial thought is "yes I could" or "no I couldnt" fuck that person and everything that follows is just a validation of that initial thought. For instance if you were to go into an interview, and that Obese Goth girl in the leather underwar was doing the interviewing your initial thought would not be the interview, the makeup, the underwear or the extra weight. It would be 'I could fuck her" and THEN the interview would start. Its almost instinctual. The instinct to mate and procreate is the strongest base instinct next to survival (and I guess in some ways it IS survival) As for reading a post...you read what you want. five to seven words in you should be able to figure out if you want to continue. Then its your choice.

whoa, whoa, whoa...whoa. whoa. easy, there, fella. Okay, I could have omitted the "you coulda been the guy who leaked SP" - and I'm hoping that everyone knows that I wasn't implying that he's the one who did it- I was merely trying to make a point. Point is- a journalist or blogger who got an advance copy of SP most likely leaked it. And this: maybe there's a time to chill out and stop trying to find new things to not be allowed to talk about. Dude, seriously- when have I ever been the one to lay down the law on what's acceptable and what's not in the way of board chatter? Sure, when SP was leaked, we were ALL up in arms about it. And the board mods (yourself included) got strict orders from the band to quash any discussion of the record unless it was coming from a music review site. Look, sorry I voiced my opinion. But I'll stand by what I said and restate that it seemed sort of lame for one of us (and by one of us I mean one of the five hundred and something members of this board) who are all supposed to be on the same level when we're here on this board to come along and say things like "you guys will enjoy looking for yourselves in the crowd shots" - like it's some cute little trivial thing.

Okay. I won't say anything about the actual content. BUT ... the reason I got sent an early copy is because I'm known as an active supporter of the band in the press. The reason early copies get sent out is so that the recipients will go round saying they like them, preferably to people who might buy the release when it actually comes out. Publicists and bands, amazingly, like to have good advance word on their records. I wasn't posting a full review of the package, just offering a couple of observations about what you lot might like in it. And yet ... telling Hold Steady fans that they would like an upcoming Hold Steady release incurs a stiff message from the mods. Honestly, I think the priorities are all wrong, and I found the way I was told off to be offensive.

EDIT: i will now return to the state of being generally stoked about the release of this certain-to-be-great DVD

i didn't see the original post but isn't it a good thing that known fans of the band are getting rewarded? when i first got into THS i sent an e-mail to the people releasing their records in Aus saying i'd do anything to help them out... a bit unprofessional, i now realize, but i was excited i mean, yeah there's obviously self-interest but so what? we like this band. if you're a fan you do what you can to help your guys out - and every bit of street press publicity helps

Sometimes reading this messageboard bums me out. I just skip to the end of those threads to see people start posting pictures of giant rabbits and booze. Cause that's definitely awesome
