I actually thought his performance was great. I've heard versions of Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out that lasted more than twelve minutes so combining that with BTR, GD and a version of WOAD that didn't bore me to tears showed the performer that he is.

I'd rank U2 over Prince (higher value as a catharsis) and Prince and Bruce would probably jockey back and forth for that #2 spot, but you've picked my three favorites for sure. Anyone remember McCartney a couple of years back? Such a letdown, especially having seen the man live- who plays "Hey Jude" at the Super Bowl?

Anyone remember McCartney a couple of years back? Such a letdown, especially having seen the man live- who plays "Hey Jude" at the Super Bowl? Back in the day when Spin magazine was good, they put out an annual list issue. One of them contained the five best and five worst Superbowl half-time shows ever. My favorite bad show was described as something like, "Michael Jackson tries to unite the world as 16,000 terrified children dance around him." Brendan has my copy of the magazine so I couldn't tell you exactly what it is, but it was pretty funny. McCartney made the bad list too. Of course, the best was when Nsync was on. Wasn't that cool, guys? Anyone? No? Oh...

Upon beginning his "set" my 12 year old daughter says, "He's old." I replied, "That old man just jumped up on top of a piano and is rockin the world right now." By the time he was windmilling all of my kids were riveted and amazed. Score one for old guys. Can't say that I ever paid much attention at half time in past years, but that was a great show.

Prince covering Foo Fighters was amazing. I like that. As a retort for FF doing a kickass version of Darling Nikki? What did he sing?

Coming to Breenle's defense (and not because she's my wife and told me I have to )... Springsteen rocks. I've been a huge fan all my life. He's got wayyyy more energy than I can hope to. BUT there's something little too "polished" about his performances for me anymore. It's not the RAW passion and energy we've come to know and love from Finn, and that I've seen from Bruce in the past. Plus, they dropped the second verse to BTR, and played Glory Days. Personal foul, unnecessary cheese. Tim

Into the camera. I noticed his wife and the other woman there are completly pointless and inaudible.

I haven't listened to much Springsteen, but did find it interesting that in one of this songs, "Glory Days" maybe, some of the most prominent lyrics are "Tramps like us." I had a very hard time not yelling "and we like tramps!"
Do you think that was intentional on the part of THS, tricky reference or coincidence? its a very prominent phrase in Charlemagne and also in the Springsteen song.
oh, and id have to agree. The man's a legend, but no Craig Finn. Hands down.
