Anybody know of any connections between the late David Carr and THS. I'm currently rereading his memoir, The Night of the Gun which mostly recounts his life in Minneapolis. He mentions seeing THS in concert and I know he had written at least one profile of the band. Maybe it's just the fact that a lot of the settings are the same i.e. city center, Hennepin, etc. But I wonder if there is a deeper connection. I just came across a part of his memoir where he is recounting his drinking/drugging days. One of his running mates was a 15 yr old girl who dressed like Steve Nix in capes etc. It got me wondering if CF and David Carr came across some of the same characters their days in Minneapolis. Regardless, it's an interesting memoir by a great writer.

The book looks interesting (I've ordered a copy). It would be interesting if their experiences really did cross over.

Bought the book. Currently about half way through.
I've been struck firstly by the repeated THS-familiar references / mentions / locations / similarities situations / characters etc, but secondly by just how damn good the writing is. An instant page-turner.
And then I looked for some more info on David Carr - such as what else he wrote - and then realised that he'd passed away. I'd missed the word "late" in the post above.
Time to finish the book.

Is this the book where the journalist tries to write the story of his life journalistically??

Only just finished this - I'd taken some slightly more cheerful stuff to read on holiday.
The first two thirds of the book are the most fascinating - I read a review that said Carr's fall was more interesting to read about than his redemption. Cool to hear that he reviewed THS / CF (worth a Google)and he mentions Chillout Tent towards the end of the book.
I really enjoyed this honest and often harrowing account of addiction, but also a little window into what CF's earlier world might have looked like. A great read.
