anyone else been into this? i'm fascinated by it. it's a giant mess, but the juxtaposition of beauty and ugliness has maybe never been this extreme on his records. there's so much happening that i just keep listening to try and take it all in. some article recently (i can't remember which, there have been so many) actually compared it to Separation Sunday in the overarching Catholic themes. i also love that it keeps getting changed. has an album ever morphed so quickly this publicly?

I'm enjoying it, even when I don't like Kanye's music I always find it interesting. Some of the lyrics on this are truly awful though. Ultralight Beam is fantastic (although I am biased as a big Chance fan), and then that first verse on Father Stretch My Hands pt 1 takes me right out of it.
I think that the album is still changing is kinda cool but I'd rather just have the finished product honestly. The version that's out there feels rushed and unfinished in parts.

Yeah some of the lyrics are particularly shitty. But then his verse on No More Parties in LA is unreal. I read something that points out how that first verse in Father... could be a purposely gross counterpoint to the really spiritual side of Ultralight Beam. Either way, ULB is transcendent and beautiful and Chance 100% makes the song. My favorite thing he's done since Acid Rap.

Saint Pablo is actually one of my favourite songs from this record. Worth it just for 'this generation's closest thing to Einstein, so don't worry about me I'm fine' alone. I just ignored it for ages because it wasn't on the original version that everyone had.

Saint Pablo is such a great song but that one anti-Semitic line kinda kills it for me :\
edit: though, really, that's no worse than the misogyny on the record. Saint Pablo is kind of peak Kanye -- some really poignant lyrics, some bragging, one or two cringe-worthy moments, a great hook, and that "wasn't supposed to make it past 25" line that's brutally heartbreaking. Ultralight Beam is probably my favorite song of the year, though. I get chills every single time I listen.
