What an awful shock.
Whilst the surprise with Lemmy was that he'd managed to live so long, I did not see that coming.
RIP Mr Jones.

jane wiedlin is taking it bad. her twitter is bonkers. Wow! That is one seriously bonkers day on Twitter from Jane. Maybe a couple of tweets sending his family and friends love and condolences and another saluting his influence on her would have done but who I am to judge? 'Tis a sad day for music, And at least she still has Neil Finn (?!) RIP David Bowie.

Bowie was always one of my favorites. Before I was even a teenager I was wearing out the needle on moms record player listening to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. I was utterly clueless as to the meaning of the songs at the time, but man I couldn't get over that music! I'm so glad I took the opportunity to see him live when I had the chance.
Me n Jules often celebrate the weekend by having dance parties at home, just the two of us, a bottle and music. On more than a few occasions it turned into a David Bowie sing along. Hard to think of a musician who made you feel like he was talking to you as much as Ziggy did. There will never be another.
Just a couple weeks ago I played the Blackstar video for her. We talked about how incredible it was that his music was still so damn good. What a way to go out.
Thank you sir.
We can't dance, we don't talk much, we just ball and play But then we move like tigers on Vaseline Well the bitter comes out better on a stolen guitar You're the blessed, we're the spiders from Mars Come on, come on, we've really got a good thing going Well come on, well come on, if you think we're gonna make it You better hang on to yourself Come on

I just watched the video for 'Lazarus' again and while the intentions now seem clear it makes it no less stunning. The clarity of thought, the clarity of (sound and) vision. Uncompromising, harrowing and resigned, one last stand. Simply astounding. youtu.be/y-JqH1M4Ya8

My favorite Bowie lyric is the title of a Charlie Mingus song. "Aaaaahhhhh, Wham Bam, Thank You Ma'am........" "Suffragette City". It's also worth mentioning that David Bowie had a great album from the "Berlin Trilogy" called "Low". Nick Lowe in response put out and ep called "Bowi". Just a little rock n roll trivia for the kids.
