Live albums rule. And this one doubly so. A lot of 'Dumb rock' makes sense on a live record I'd like to add a very 'dumb rock' top 5 live albums Dumb makes sense loud and fast. All these records are great. Oh and Cheesy works pretty well too You don't have to be cool, to be cool.

Great album - though I thought last years live DVD was even better. Rory Gallagher - Live in Europe and Irish tour. The Outlaws - Bring it Back Alive. Deep Purple - Made in Japan. Are just a few of my favorites from the 70's.

Ditto to the Face To Face "Live," the Who "Live At Leeds," Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense," Thin Lizzy "Live And Dangerous," Husker Du "Living End," and Kiss "Alive!"
I'd also like to pledge my support for: Rolling Stones, "Shine A Light" Frank Zappa, "Filmore East 1971" Kiss, "Alive II" The Replacements, "It's Not Over Til The Fat Roadie Sings" Yes, "Yessongs" Allman Brothers Band, "Live at the Filmore"
And my very favorite live album and favorite album of all time is Vertical Horizon's "Live Stages." I get a lot of flack for this one (*cough*Brendan&Kim*cough*), so in its defense, here's a video I found on the YouTube, it gives a really abbreviated overview of the album. You won't hear any songs you know, as it's from almost 3 years before they broke on the radio.

I thought it was bad Jesus music but it turns out it's Vertical Horizon. My favorite live album is The Village People's Live and Sleazy. It's a double album, I found a copy of it on vinyl for a dollar at Dave's Records in Chicago and it is the best use of a dollar EVER.

agreed ... and hate to say that polly & i were at the show at miami university at the end of the tour (damn, we're old). i was taking a theatre class and the next day the professor spent two hours talking about the show and all the theatrics involved. he loved the lamp imagery in the clip you linked. for fans only and perfectly titled :: the replacements - "the shit hits the fans"for a bunch of knucklehead white kids in suburban dayton ohio, we wore this out ::

Ha! I was at that show. Aztec camera opener?? Drive up from cincy with 2 other guys and 2 cases of hudy delight. All was good until I started chatting about b-ball with a cute, tall blond *older laydee* at the show and then her cro magnon tan boyfr... Oh fuck. as i recall there was a short movie as "the opener". after 2 cases of hudy delight you probably got "aztec camera" and "film projector" confused. did you guys roll up from cincinnati in your chevette, or were you big pimpin' in a pinto station wagon?

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Hammersmith Odeon '75 Excelent DVD as well. I haven't seen the dvd yet, only a few clips on youtube... I've ordered it but they say they don't have it in stock and don't know when they'll have it again I'm hoping though, especially since I got a great price...

I'm pretty sure it's the only way it's available - which is a shame judging by the video clips I've seen and the cd.

"Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Hammersmith Odeon '75" - a Classic & someone on the 1st page mentioned Darkness era bootlegs, yep they're great I've just come across a couple recently that are the best bootlegs I've got.
"Get Yer Ya Yars Out" is great & so is "Got live if you want it" by the Stones
"Live Seeds" by Nick Cave is very good
& I cant believe no one has mentioned "If You Want Blood You've Got It" - AC/DC
for the Aussies "The Way to Go Out" - Hunters & Collectors & "Swingshift" - Cold Chisel
I'm not sure if it's in the same class but I just realised I'm listening to a live album right now "The Other Woman" by the Corn Sisters, I like it a lot.

Actually, Live Seeds is Fucking incredible. Nick Cave is truly at the height of his powers here, and the Seeds are so good they are frightening. Also, Warren Zevon's Stand in the Fire is truly a wonderous thing, as is any live album by the J. Geils Band.
