This will be interesting... DeRogatis hates the band's records but has been kinder to the live show. Kot has championed them, but gave Stay Positive a "burn it" review (he loved "Constructive Summer.") Here are the footnotes for the Stay Positive review and Boys and Girls in America. Kot says buy BAGIA, by the way; DeRogatis calls BAGIA "lousy" and says trash both albums.

Just listened and DeRogatis kind of wussed out. He claimed to have been won over by their live act and this partially reflects what he has said on air. What he did not touch on is the fact that he still slagged SP when they reviewed it. Their performance was swell and it is always fun to listen to Craig

DeRogatis wussed out? What? Never!
I love some of the stories about him taking on Billy Corgan and Jann Wenner and the like, but I don't think he's as much the heir apparent to Lester Bangs as he'd like to be.

Listened to it last night. If you haven't heard it yet, you should check it out.
Kot and Craig have a pretty good rapport, and, while there's nothing earth-shattering in the interview beyond a little more information about "Magazines," the stories about moving to NYC and making the shift to a more "classic" sound are made a little fresher with some nice one-liners (Craig's bit about making rock accessible to people who buy records at Wal-Mart is really wonderful, especially when you live in an area where the indie record stores require special effort and can be counted on one hand.)
The song choices were interesting. "Magazines" lent itself pretty well to the format, with all three guys in especially strong voice. "Cutters," on the other hand, was not exciting to me- of course, this may be due to the fact that, of the songs on Stay Positive, it's one that I'm becoming less interested in. It's an easy one to respect, but a hard one to love...

I thought it was interesting, but it seemed way too short. It didn't seem like they gave THS very much time. I could be remembering this wrong but it seems like they usually spend 40 minutes with their guests but THS barely got 30.
Or maybe thats just me crappy bands that I sat through on Sound Opinions.
