This is an early (and pre Teeth Dreams) contender for album of the year. I can't stop listening. Not only is the backdrop interesting and fascinating (Tom Gabel turning into Laura Jane Grace), it's also very present in the lyrics. And the music is amazing as well. Hard, fast, melodic, intense and lots of fun, everything in less than half an hour. The opening three songs are just about everything I want and need from a rock'n'roll record, and there's plenty of hightlights after that as well.
I've only briefly listened to New Wave, and have played Reinventing Axl Rose three or four times, but tihs one hit me hard and right away.

Its a really great record. Their best since they left Fat. I don't like "Osama..." at all, but the rest is solid. It's heartbreaking and beautiful and angry and conflicted and awesome.

I'm new to Against Me!, but after hearing about the singer I thought it could make for an interesting album and gave it a shot. Really enjoying it so far. Especially love the first two songs and FuckMyLife666. I do feel that some of the songs could be fleshed out a little more musically though.

YES. This is a great, great record. I adore White Crosses, and even though this one is a little more stripped back it's still that great mix of deeply personal and catchy as all hell. Can't stop listening.

Just discovered that a norwegian band (allready) have made an acoustic version of the amazing opening track in norwegian. The translated lyrics might be the most interesting thing about it, but anyway, check out the last video on this page: p3.no/musikk/christine-live-johndoe/

I just realized that both THS and Against Me! are both touring with Cheap Girls. Maybe I should check them out.

Agreed, Giant Orange did nothing for me, but those first 2 records are really cool. I still haven't checked out that new song yet either.

Giant Orange kinda killed my interest in them. Maybe I'll check out the new one but I'm not rushing to hear it

This is still the best album I heard this year Me too. I revisited it after I read about the Oslo gig, and I still love it. Short, punchy, thick and rich, with melodies and lyrics to back it up. Teeth Dreams is up there as well, but Transgender is the record who'll always be 2014 to me.

I bought the album on the strength of this thread. It may have just stolen the crown of best record of 2014 away from The Pixies.
