OK, so there's at least three of us on here - Caz, Alexondrums and me.
Alex and I started talking drums, so rather than clog up another thread, (and give everyone else an excuse for drummer jokes.....rawkguitars) here's one just for the special people sitting and hitting at the back.
Give me a few minutes and, in response to Alex's drum photos, I'll post some pics of my kit.

What do Ginger Baker and black coffee have in common?
They both suck without Cream.
What do you say to a drummer in a three-piece suit?
"Will the defendant please rise?"

Nice! The trick with coordination is repition and calmness. Just keep going with the same basic pattern and feel free to let your mind wander, the harder you concentrate on trying to get something often the more likely you are to mess up because you're putting pressure on yourself. Just relax and play along however you can to an ipod or something and it'll start coming along slowly but surely :-)

Try starting with just a pattern between your right foot - the bass pedal - and your left hand - the snare drum assuming you're playing right-handed)
And yes, relax!

Scary.
I have no idea how he does that, but it's good.
That's how I want my new snare to sound.
PS - See Bobby rockin the big Gretsch on the trailer!

What do you call a beautiful woman on a drummer's arm?
A tattoo.
Couldn't resist.

Thanks and welcome - you're already here! What sort of music do you like to play? What's your set up? Thanks! I like to say that I don't discriminate against music. I really like all kinds and like to play all sorts of music. I think to limit myself to one genre does an overall disservice to myself and my growth as a drummer. Right now I'm playing in a band which plays stuff from the 50's on up (so a little bit of everything), plus originals, and we are also the house band for a local open mic night so experimental jams are the norm. I get asked to play with a blues band every couple months which is fun. I love funk, soul, R&B, hard rock, classic rock, punk, ska...really anything, however I listen to a lot of the "jamband" genre so I do like to get experimental in my drumming, take a song way out there with a good jam and be able to bring it all back again. I just bought the Ludwig Breakbeats kit. I play in a lot of small bars so I needed a smaller bass drum. This is a great kit. I need to upgrade the heads, but right out of the box with some tuning and it actually sounds pretty decent. and it's nice and compact. I also have a Ludwig rocker kit that is primarily just set up as a practice kit. Also have an older TKO which my kids like to bang on, and i'll bring to a dive bar, or lug it to an open mic where if it get's knocked around it won't be too big of a problem. Cymbals are Zildjian A and Z Custom, and Sabian XS20's. Generally play 1 up, 1 down, though occasionally 2 up and 1 down. I guess it just depends on who i'm playing with and how much space there is. Sometimes will just go to acoustic open mics with a ride and snare and play with brushes or hotrods, which is always fun and a real exercise in minimalistic playing. I just picked up drumming again about 3 years ago after taking a 8 year break. It's been a bit of a learning curve, and I think the chops are back, but my kick pedal coordination needs some practice. anyone got any good tips for kick drum exercises? I don't play double bass, as most types of music I play doesn't need it and overall (while fun) I think double kick is unnecessary and would rather be able to do doubles and triplets with one pedal.

I agree re music - for me it's mostly anything with guitars.
Ludwigs are great - I still miss my old Ludwig Super Classic - loudest kit I've ever played. I love vintage drums - especially restoring them. I had six kits at one point!
If you see my kit above, there's more toms there than I need! I like smaller punchy drums - my bass is a 20 x 18 Keller shell that I recovered, drilled and fitted with Premier hardware to match the rest of the kit.
I have one kit on the go to restore, then I'm thinking about custom building a snare. If I get the time!
I don't play half as much as I'd like - running my own business and running around after three kids! Stringer and I get together for a jam every now and then. He's a bit good though!
I can't be doing with a double pedal either; one's enough!
Not too sure about exercises, sorry - I can make drums look great, but my playing's basic! Try the Mike Dolbear website and forum for all things drummy (incl. practice tips)

Here's a video of me playing with my band, but unfortunately, I couldn't use my own kit at this show. I had to use a piece of shit Pearl Forum with half broken hardware. Here's my actual kit though, a re-wrapped 1965 Slingerland, in what I like to call "Easter Bunny Puke Pearl" 14x20 Bass Drum 8x12 Rack Tom 14x14 Floor Tom 6.5 x 14 World Max Maple Snare 15" Zildjian A Sweet Hats 19" Zildjian A Custom Crash 21" Zildjian A Sweet Ride Pearl Powershifter Eliminator Single Bass Pedal Pacific Hardware other than that.

Yeah, I saw Todd Trainer, Zach Barocas and Glenn Kotche do it, so I decided to give it a shot for a bit. It's great for doing cross body stuff, but can make a basic fill a little more difficult.
I might try switching back to a more standard setup for a little bit just to switch it up.
