I produce an endearing little monthly podcast through a youth center in Bloomington, IN. Every month we decide on a theme for youth to explore through the video production, visual art, journalism, and radio programs. This past month was "The Innocence of Youth," and that program is airing/podcasting on Saturday. We're picking a new theme later today. Turns out we have a lot more subscribers than I thought we had, so I figured I'd keep spreading the word here. It'll only bug your feed once a month and the more listeners we have, the better the program looks to the city! The kids are also on the air playing music and hosting interviews every Saturday night from 6-10pm on wfhb.org. iTunes Store link: itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/mixed-nuts-podcast/id501783730Listen tethered on Tumblr: rhinosyouthradio.tumblr.com/Also available on your smart device thanks to Stitcher Smart Radio!

Just a quick post to let you know that this month, I’m celebrating the tenth anniversary of my business, Del Harries Training & Consultancy! I started my own business in the summer of 2007, leaving behind a job in senior management to follow an ambition I’d been dreaming of for some time. Ten years has passed and I don’t know where the time has gone!
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank anyone and everyone who has helped and supported me in any way over this past decade. Setting up a business from scratch is never easy, and neither is keeping it going over a decade! I feel that I’ve come a long way and achieved a lot in what has been a demanding but satisfying time. I now have the flexibility to achieve something of a “work / life” balance, but also the freedom to take on work that is both challenging and rewarding. (Still not making any money though!!)
Helping my customers facilitate learning for their staff and improve the lives of the vulnerable people they support is what it’s all about for me. Achieving this has taken a huge amount of my own hard work, but also lots of support along the way, for which I am hugely glad. Most of all, I am always so grateful to my family for their support and patience.
Even after twenty-five years of working in social care and ten years of self-employment, I continue to feel enthused about what the future holds. I look forward to being involved in more varied and exciting work, hopefully more lecturing (at UWTSD) and, all being well, beginning Doctorate level study and research in the New Year.
Over most of the last decade, the music of THS and CF have kept me going, as has the friendship of the U Scene - esp. my best pal Stringer - thanks again for helping me along the way, mate!
Stay Positive!
Del Harries MA Social Care Trainer / consultant Proprietor
