Never heard of this program before, stumbled on it today via KUT's site (Austin, TX public radio), saw Craig's name and read that he'll be on this Friday, 09. January at 12 p.m. central time. Thought maybe some of you might want to check it out with me... Link to site and stream: kut.org/This Week on the Big Show: Get Smart Jan 7th, 2009
Forget 'art rock'. Now its 'smart rock'. On the next edition of Texas Music Matters, we’ll hear from the Texas-based bands putting an intellectual twist on indie-rock. Also, Craig Finn of The Hold Steady talks about the prototype smart-rockers, The Replacements. We’ll go behind the scenes at Austin City Limits for an exclusive performance by My Morning Jacket. Plus, the Texas Top 5, our Song of the Week and much more on the next edition of Texas Music Matters. Friday at noon on KUT 90.5.

that's NOT a good phrase...
Smart rock indeed.
Next it'll be technology-literate two-toners being called Skart.

not just the term itself, but also the abundance of crappy journalistic cliches and bad punctuation they manage to ram into those two [sic] sentences.

When interviewed about THS's appeal on a slow day for Sky News, our boy Manish used the phrase "Music to drink to and music to think to". And I laughed bacon salad right across the room.

really? i thought it was alright... not the smoothest program i've ever heard but they've got some interesting features.
nice version of "Cheyenne Sunrise" and i liked the Replacements segment too.

Totally agree with CF's analysis of the sound of "Let It Be". That album was massive for me, and it certainly holds up. Compare that to the abysymal "Don't Tell A Soul" which sounds so dated.

Is this archived on the KUT site? I've looked but can't find anything. It's not a very user-friendly site.
