This show ranks up there as if not my number one favorite, but somewhere close. Something totally special about that evening I can't even put my finger on. I remember waking up the morning before the show tired and sore from the previous night's gig, not sure if I should go. So much energy in that room. They came dresses as Banderos. So cool. The place fucking EXPLODED for 'Stations'. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfNxPwTjy_wI'm lower left hand side, with a grey t-shirt with a pink design on back. I'm curious to hear if my 'yelp' made it onto 'Lord I'm Discouraged'.. I'm going to excerpt something from my site: October 31, 2007 - Shouting “YEAH!” very loudly in a quiet room after Craig Finn explained before the live debut of “Lord, I’m Discouraged” that it was a “sad song”. Man, talk about a buzzkill. The dude next to me patted me on the shoulder and said “nice job” as I sunk my head into my shoulders. Ouch.Yeah. Very excited to hear this.

I was hope that video of me singing "Born in the U.S.A." and having it videoed by Craig (didn't realise tyill the end) makes it the DVD. Apparently I have a good voice for punk.
That would be awesome (but lets be honest)...

From the Vagrant official email:
"The Hold Steady announce an April 7 release date for A Positive Rage, a double disc package featuring a documentary on DVD and their first-ever live album. The set will be released on April 6 on Rough Trade Records in the UK and Europe.
A Positive Rage captures the excitement and high spirits of both the band and their fans in the days surrounding the release of their third full-length, Boys ands Girls in America, (Vagrant) and ensuing world tour in 2006.
The 53-minute documentary begins with The Hold Steady’s first ever London performances with never-before-seen live footage, back stage interviews with the band members, fan commentary and the original, raw audio. Cameras follow the band as they return to the US for a 24-date tour that culminates on screen with an especially poignant performance at First Avenue in Minneapolis.
The live album was recorded on October 31, 2007 and includes seventeen songs that Craig Finn, Tad Kubler, Galen Polivka, Franz Nicolay, and Bobby Drake performed on the second of their two-night sold-out stand at the Metro in Chicago. The enhanced album will also feature five bonus studio tracks: “Ask Her For Adderall,” “Cheyenne Sunrise,” “Two Handed Handshake,” and the previously unreleased tracks “Spectres” and “40 Bucks.”
The booklet features personal photos and the band’s memories of the tour, including this excerpt from Craig Finn… “It ended up being a fantastic suburban blow out with band and audience on the floor, Frisbee and tailgating in the adjoining parking lot, and everyone singing along to every song…. It reminded me of the hardcore shows I loved as a kid, everyone sweating and screaming together in a rented hall. And drinking in the parking lot, of course. The next night worlds converged…. “

They have a history of terrible packaging. But I thought Stay Positive had put that right. If this is a luxurious two disc affair I want nice type and some cool art. It's probably too late if they've published the jpeg already but 'guys, it's like you're not even trying'

Kinda. It's not terrible. Looks like any Hardcore Indie record from any decade since '77. I get that might be the point but a debut album should stand out on the racks as well as out loud. the main offender here is BAGIA. It's hideous to look at (one of the worst record sleeves I can think of) and considering how epic and colourful SepSun is that cover is a bummer. Again, that might be the point. Well if it is... I believe it's a wasted opportunity. I've seen so much outstanding imagery related to the band in their posters and merchandise. So why do the records almost always look so terrible?

BAGIA is an awful cover. And a lot of people buy records if they are taken by the cover of the album. I bought Against Me! - New Wave, and The Stooges - Raw Power, solely on the covers, with no knowledge of the bands.

I think all the THS album covers have been etremely awesome besides BAGIA.
Can't see how you can't feel the AKM one. It sums up the album feel perfect.

I can't believe you guys are hating on the Boys and Girls in America artwork. It's fantastic- especially the gatefold for the LP.
I'm not a fan of the Positive Rage artwork thus far. Craig and Tad by a Port-a-Potty? C'mon, guys. Of course, it's the content that counts...
