A long, long way from home, but I'll be attending the Friday night.
I'm used to Scottish or North England music festivals. Where there is mud-a-plenty. Any Unified Scenesters wanna show me how it works in the desert?
Roll Call!

be well prepared for intense heat, its earlier than in years past but it is the middle of the desert. drink a lot of water and you will be all good. the beer tent thing is weak (you cant just roam around the fest with a beer, you have to stay in these odd beer areas).

Leonard Cohen? Really? I mean, c'mon. Outstanding songwriter, no doubt. But his live performance in his heyday was poor. Now that he's 74? Don't think I'll bother.
Paul McCartney is still my favourite Beatle. If I throw something at him, its gonna be a hotel keycard. ;-)

Don't think I'll bother. i... look hmm he played for 3 hours. he's got an amazing band behind him and he sings his songs with so much heart and soul, hand by the side of his head, eyes gazing up at the heavens. the show's over and you feel BLESSED that he's let you pay too much to see him especially after he blesses you its worth it. trust me. his age works plus he wears a spiffy hat

Spiffy hat? Why didn't you say so?!
Hopefully his stage time won't clash with anyone else I wanna see, and I'll be able to check him out. You've got me interested.

You've got me interested. i might get banned for saying this but Cohen is 78 years old and awesome. if he clashes with THS i would suggest seeing him seriously on the other hand if Paul McCartney clashes with some band you read about on a blog that might be okay you should see them

Depending on what Paul decides to throw into his setlist, he's still capable of brining the rock, especially if Rusty Anderson's still his guitarist (New Radicals FTW)... However, if he decides to play it safe and plays a bunch of old warhorses, it'll be a snooze.
"Coming Up" rocked live... that's all I'm gonna say.

I've thought about it. Wisco To Cali seems like a lot of work, and sunburn super easily.

yeah thats my logic. i love THS with all my heart but this is probably Cohen's last tour i can't really describe seeing him. its like... ya know how Craig does that 'SO MUCH JOY' thing at the end of the set? with Cohen you feel like that all the time, like you're blessed just to be in his presence i dunno... it sounds a bit silly and mystical but i'm not the only one. plus he played for 3 hours when i saw him
