I was at Melbourne Laneway and had no trouble seeing who I wanted to see. Got in 3 bands early to watch through Cut Off Your Hands (struggled to even get down onto the street), but after they finished, was able to get closer for The Drones, then managed to get 3 people back for Architecture.
The faces as I left Lt Lonsdale before Girl Talk were on (to go see THS) were quite heartbreaking. People weren't being allowed in and a few were crying etc.
Fairly small crowd for THS meant I got adequately close enough. It was annoying going through bag check every time you changed stages, but a necessary evil I suppose. Red Bull and Lounge stages were inaccessible for most of the day (and I think that's where a good brunt of the criticism is aimed at).
