I'm going to Laneway on Sunday! Laneway is always weird and kinda low key, due to being on a sunday... i think i fell asleep during the last one. Won't happen this Sunday! i looked at the timetable... no real clashes. Drones, No Age, Jay Reatard, Tim Fite (conflicts with Stereolab but my friend had a dream about me and Tim Fite so i gotta see him), Toydeath, THS! yay!

its going to be 47 degrees. or 116 degrees Fahrenheit. jesus christ. there better be a fuckin chillout tent. in the literal, 'spray you with cool water so you DON'T DIE OF HEATSTROKE' sense of the term. Big Day Out and Peats had them, but Lanway is a bit smaller i swear if i survive Big Day Out only to die at Laneway... i hope i survive long enough to see THS again

Don't suppose anyone has a spare ticket for the Sydney Laneway Festival? Damn gig has sold out and 2 Hold Steady gigs this week just isn't enough for me.

Constructive Summer Hot Soft Light Chips Ahoy Sequestered in Memphis Massive Nights Party Pit Magazines Lord, I'm Discouraged Stuck Between Stations Your Little Hoodrat Friend Stay Positive Slapped Actress Killer Parties
Couldn't get in to the gig. But I managed to find a spot across the road, outside the fence where I got an elevated but obscured side on view of the stage. Could only really see Craig & Tad. I got a bit of sound coming from the other stages but knowing all THS songs helped with that.
After the gig I stalked the backstage gate & spoke briefly to Tad & Galen before giving them a CD of some of my songs. I’m sure they have people do that to them all the time & they didn’t have to be so polite & gracious.

aw man... i had to climb the fence... i wanted to give them a Perry Keyes CD (i don't have any of my songs recorded) that was awesome... i wasn't sure how the sniffling indie kids at Laneway would react but it was nuts! there was moshing and crowd surfing and really intense awesomeness

What I did have a really good view of was the crowd. And yeah, they were digging it.

i reckon some of the kids there for Drones/Hold Steady/No Age/Jay Reatard would have been ready to rock only other bands i saw were a bit of Drones and a bit of Architecture in Helsinki. same as they always were, tho its the first time i've seen AiH since i decided they'd betrayed their twee routes. and me. wasn't bad thanks for the setlist! i used it to write my review... should be up soon

So awesome. The (relatively small) crowd got into them far more than I expected. I was right up against the barrier in the middle and the crowd was so into it that I nearly got suffocated against the barrier! I had a ball though, everyone was having a great time and there was a great atmosphere. Glad I skipped Girl Talk to see them again.

i was right up against the barrier on the left! during 'Little Hoodrat Friend' i thought i'd get into the mosh but it was alot bigger then i expected... almost got crushed by a guy crowd surfing i heard people bitching about the Girl Talk crowd... was the place really filled with BDO bogans?

Yeah, that guy nearly took my head off when security pulled him out of the crowd! Crowd was definitely at its rowdiest in Your Little Hoodrat Friend.

i like that though... i'd prefer it to the alternative. last saturday i saw Winnbago Deal at a half-empty Annandale Hotel... the crowd just stood around and nodded their heads. i would have preferred some mosh pit injuries to that....

thanks... i'm kinda nervous 'cause i was so fanboyish but i guess most of the reviews on our site are written by fans of the bands... or they wouldn't make the effort to go

A bunch of people I know who don't know the band or their stuff very well said it was an awesome show and they had a great time, so I think most people share your view on how awesome it was.

my co-worker didn't like it but yeah i reckon they made a few fans there seemed like a few decent rock bands... i remember going two years ago for Bellrays and getting left high and dry by the lack of rock tho 'rocking out' is considered a bit gauche these days
